Default Can the 991 door trim be replaced?

I'm considering to replace my leather trim with the standard metal-ish trim and have it painted in the color of the car.

Have read in some threads that this isn't possible for the door. Can anyone confirm that and if yes, any thought on why so?

I know some rennlisters have dismantled their doors for audio upgrades etc - any thought from you guys?

you have to replace the entire door card to get that metal strip that is part of the full leather interior

Correct, not possible to separate the trim piece from the door card. But possible to paint or cover/wrap the trim piece? Sure. Don't know if anyone has done so, but I don't see why you couldn't paint "in-place" on the card with some very good masking.

It's possible, but it will be almost comically expensive.

Find a way to do it. The body colored interior trim is a perfect compliment to the car. But I'm a bit biased

Vise, I think I already told you but your original post was the reason I went with this option. I had glossed over the option without really understanding what it was until I saw your car. I think this is my favorite option because I didn't go with the GTS interior and the painted trim really adds a great splash of color and interest. So thanks!

So, did anyone actually removed the door trims ?

I have the option to install full carbon set, including the door trims, but i dont want to buy it and then find out that i cannot install them.

DB Carbon makes a door spear that fits over that piece in carbon fiber. Adheres wit adhesive. They make high quality product. Would be crazy but you could buy that piece and then paint it.

I would not buy the DB carbon door trims, while the rest of their stuff is top notch the design on the door trims are sub par at best.

I have the chance to get the full set from a dismantler, and it is in perfect condition. However, i dont want to buy it and find out that i cannot replace in any way the door trims.

Do you know if anyone has done it ?
