That's a lot of torque.

This is BMW E92 335I all over again. Just 10 years later. People on the BMW boards would debate getting an N/A M3 when you could just chip a 335I and be as fast if not faster. Now you'll be able to chip 991.2 S and smoke a GT3, in a straight line at least.

Edit: I don't think those torque numbers are correct on a second review of that webpage. I think the blogger is getting nm and ft-lb confused.

+1 @Ryan.

I had an E92 335i, with full M3 chassis upgrades, LSD, diff lockdown kit running 100%E85. The thing was doing almost 400HP an 400Ft/lbs at the wheels. It was a monster, but super unreliable. I am curious to see how these motors handle increased boost.

With that increase in power, you better increase the internals. I'd be worried everyday. As archimedes mentioned...car go boom.

I'm not trying to be an a-hole here, but I can do better for less. With software only, I'll get you 580 ft-lb at the wheels on 93 octane for $2,000. Just drop your 991.2 S and keyfob at my house, er, shop for one week and I will work my magic.

Money back guarantee, too. If you think you got any less than the full 580 ft, get 100% of your money back.

100%. Exactly the M3/335 situation as we discussed in the other thread. Not sure how I feel about seeing crazy-*** "tuned" C/CSs running around town. Something unPorschey about it.

****, I sound old.

Not worth the aggravation. I have bin playing with turbo cars for a while and yes they can be some of the fastest cars around. If the motor was a disposable item that cost $2500 than its no big deal. 20 years from now maybe. Today though it can be a costly proposition if not done correctly. I personally wouldn't risk it. Car is fast enough as is. No need to push the envelope.

It will be interesting to see how the motors hold up. I have a feeling there will be many tuned 991.2's sooner than later. If they build this motor to the same standards of the old Mezger turbo motors, they will probably hold together pretty well given conservative boost levels.

You're right, this is the website of the mfgr:

"Performance upgrade Porsche 911 991 Carrera S 3.0

Now we can offer two performance stages for the current Porsche 911 991 Carrera S with 3.0-liter turbo engine. Both stages offer a significant performance increase for more driving pleasure. The stock power of 420 hp and 500 Nm raises up to 475 hp and 570 Nm by stage 1 software optimisation. At stage 2 performance upgrade, we install in addition to our software also a flap exhaust system with sport catalysts made by Capristo with the result of 485 hp and 585 Nm. Of course, in combination with a significantly more muscular sound that can be adjusted as needed by radio remote control. The stage 1 software optimisation is already for 2.499, - Euro available. The price for the stage 2 is 8.349, - Euro, including fitting of the flap exhaust system. "

570 Nm is 420 ft-lbs

Agreed. A friend of mine was part of the 335 craze. His 335is was tuned to **** and pulled a ton of power on E85, but he had CELs every other week and eventually had to have the turbo and his fuel pump replaced.

Not worth it, but we'll surely be seeing them on the streets.
