1. Is the installation as easy as the video implies? I've done large boat names in the past but the transoms were relatively flat vs the curves/flare of the 4s rear fenders?
very easy, easier than I thought. take your time. make sure everything dries before removing the semi-clear layer of facing.
2. How did you determine the amount of space between the bottom of the door and the lower edge of the decal? How did you determine "level" so the graphic looks parallel to the ground? Etc.
I looked at a bunch of pics and centered it over the existing GTS on the door. it was about 1/4" above the bottor door seam. the decals are parallel with the door seam, not the ground as i thought.
3. Did either of you install the forward-most section of the graphic over a PPF like Xpel? I'm concerned that removal will damage the film if/when we want to take it off (we have a full front wrap so the front fender has Xpel on the thin section behind the wheel).
Yes, it's over PPF. my whole door is also PPF as well as my rockers and rear fender, so for me, it's all over PPF. the decals are like electical tape -no danger or damage from install or removing them.
4. Phil - I noticed that you held the stripes back fron the wheel well. How did you make the radius cut? I assume it was before you started the installation? Why did you make that choice?
if i could do this again, i woudl also cut like this! easy with a pair of scissors. watch the video and you'll see when you can trip w scissors..
I added some matte black side decals after the wash today. Took about 30 minutes after I washed the car, and very easily reversible. I put them right over the "GTS" which is under my Xpel. Added a mean sporty, retro feel that I think looks cool with the ducktail. Cheap / temporary way to change it up for a bit. Before
Looks fantastic. It's hard keeping up with all of your mods that turn out perfectly!

Good questions:
Admittedly, I had the Dealership do it. I was worried about a DIY where I screw it up.
The stripes are over my front 1/4 panel, not sure what happens if I have to remove either, I suspect I would have to redo both.
I believe that the installer measured it out front to rear and used painters tape as a guide and blocked it off. (thats how I'd do it.)
It looks nice. I've considered doing the same thing. I thought of cutting away enough of the center stripe to allow the GTS to show through. Thoughts on that?
Does anyone have pictures of an Agate Grey with a similar decal? I'm considering the gloss black or matte black but would love to get a feel for what it would look like first.

my opinion is that it would look a bit out of place because the GTS is in a very different font.

if i had agate, i would look at a lighter more complementary color, like light gray or even deep burgundy or caliper red. there is a ton of brown in Agate, so even beige or light brown would be awesome. depends on how retro you want to go. google the Singer Indonesia, Switzerland or Chicago cars for some inspo. i think black would be way too suble, but that's me..
Edit: just looked at pics of agate again, black would look awesome. must be the wine speaking.. lol
Just ordered the black matte for my GTS. You guys inspired me, thanks! Will post pics after the mod. Now, I have to figure out if I am crafty enough to modify the lettering on the back of the car to "GTS."
