I know it's "no." It was more from a pronunciation perspective (on top of German lingo) than anything. I think I tried NEUN as well and it wouldn't accept it either! Seems it didn't like any German words.
*** double checked. NEUN 11 is available! May go with that!

Thanks Dkk16. Colour is called Togo Brown, and it was one of 4 “special colours” available in 1965. Original cost for the option was $53.20 or just more than 1% of the purchase price, which seems like a bargain compared to current PTS pricing. Wasn’t a very popular colour at the time, but I really like it.

I don't normally do vanity plates ... BUT ... I wanted to get a black/yellow plate, and it turns out the cost is identical regardless if you're assigned a random set of numbers and letters, or if you choose your own.
Here's what I went with. It's not mega creative, but I like the fact that to almost everyone it does look like a set of random numbers and letters!

The last time I got a black/yellow CA license I wanted one that had three letters and three numbers arranged just like the original black plates. They wouldn't give it to me because it was identical format as the original design and there was a rule against that.... huh? I thought that was the idea!
