Michelin Pilot SS Tires
#31
Two Q's for anyone that has replaced tires on their 991:
1) Are the MPSS you are getting "N"-spec tires (I don't see any that are on the TireRack website), or are you using either the "K1/2/3" Ferrari tire or the non-branded-spec tire?
2) New tires are typically quieter than worn tires - this has always been the case on every car I have owned. When you say the MPSS are quieter, has anyone compared new P-Zero to new MPSS for loudness (or worn tires to worn tires)?
Cheers,
Martin

Michelin® PILOT SUPER SPT 295/30R20 - Item# 692643
Michelin® Pilot® SPORT SS 245/35R20 - Item# 606980
Actual received tire markings were:
Michelin Pilot Super Sport MO 295/30/ZR20 (101Y) Extra Load
Michelin Pilot Super Sport K1 245/35/ZR20 (95Y) Extra Load
Don't know if those are the "Ferrari" rubber and yes, I'm keenly aware that as tires wear they tend to get noisier. However, I vividly recall that my "new" Pirelli P-Zero's were outrageously noisy especially on concrete surfaces and whereas the MPSS' are not, by any stretch of the imagination, a silent tire, they are, by an order of magnitude, quieter...

Well I cant say "precisely" what the differences are for the MB or Ferrari spec tyres are, but in general each manufacturer works with Michelin to customize
the tyre formulation and construction to suit the characteristics of the particular
model and its handling characteristics ...
as an example since the 911 has a rear bias, you could imagine that the formulation and construction of the rear tyres might differ from those of
a mid engined Ferrari or a front engined, high HP MB ...
