I am ordering a Targa 4S, and I would like to get your advise/comments on the build.
Please note few things:
1) I currently own 2014 4S Cab (GT Silver with Dark Blue Top), and will most likely keep it.
2) Porsche will paint the rear facia with exterior color. This option does not show on the build,
3) The build code: http://www.porsche-code.com/PH8LDT91
4) Please fire away, you will not hurt my feelings :-)
Z, have you seen graphite blue in real yet? It's a strange one - local dealer has one registered as a demonstrator and it would not be my first choice. Of course its a personal thing!
My only comments on your choice of colours - exterior and interior - is that you may have too many different colours - brown, cream, blue and red. I've seen graphite blue with the graphite / chalk interior and that is a nice combo - one that is recommended in the brochure - in that case I'd probably go for a black or blue roof panel. If you are really set on the graphite exterior and expresso / cognac interior (not a recommended combination in the brochure) I would consider a brown roof panel.
I can't comment on your technical spec as there are so many options I have not personally tried (other than the RS rims which I've seen and look superb)
Attached a couple of pics of graphite with the graphite / chalk interior in case you have not seen.
graphite blue exterior
Cognac / Expresso interior
White dials
Silver seatbelts
Yellow PCCB's
Deviated stitching
Mahogany interior package
Satin Silver Targa bar
Red Targa roof
Too much of a crayola box for me.
$72k in options? Great to see you can order the car YOU like, but that is an awful lot of option coin.
I would say, if you like it ... order it. Me? I would not spend that much on options and try to pick a color theme and be consisted with it.
Also, power steering plus is not liked by many people. I have seen a few people even delete it on a car that had it.
Adaptive cruise? Only if you are doing >15k miles a year with it, this would be worth it for me. i do not see a need for long distance comfort options is you only put 5k miles on it per year.
Agree on the too many colors and the red/blue combination as questionable. I've generally heard that the 18 way seats are not as comfortable as the 14. The only thing I'd add ( and it looks like the only box you didn't tick) is the fire extinguisher. Otherwise, sounds spectacular. It does have the backup camera?
I agree with most of the color comments. However, I happen to like Graphite Blue. I'd probably go with a brown top and all brown interior. Also, you might want to try silver wheels, as they would match the Targa bar. As far as the vast array of options goes, get as many or as few as you want.
One of the prettiest 911s I ever saw was a sapphire blue 991 Targe. I like that better than your choice, I know its metallic but it looks flat. Are you going to be happy with that and do you care about resale?
BUT DUDE for $200K why NOT get a 911 Turbo S? It comes with almost every flipping option in the book!! And should come in at the same price AND its the REAL turbo! Just get the color you want. OR get in line for a 911 R? WHen I think of a regular 911 I would want to be in the 120's for an S after haggling. $200K brings a WHOLE LOT of other cars in the equation!!
Oh and if youre not going to the track it dont get the PCCB's I have had 2 GT3s with them and you worry more about the health of your
brakes than driving your car. The replacements are $$$ and if you want to sell some people like them and some dont.
Just my opinion. It may or may not reflect the opinions of others on Rennlist.
Have seen Graphite Blue Met in person on this exact car on the same day this pic was shot.
In the showroom it looked dull gray to my eye.
Too many colors, I stick with only two colors, so no deviating stitching, no colored dials as Porsche has no colors that match the Carmine Red on my inbound C4S.
I have 18-way seats, extremely confortable.
Yea, I agree, your in Turbo or Turbo S area, so why not!-Richard
1) All your comments made me smile and laugh, but most of all I really appreciate it,
2) I concur with all your color comments,
3) steve9, thank you so much on the chalk interior recommendation. yes, it does look stunning. And I will change mine to reflect it as such,
4) OldGuy, I love the Sapphire blue, and I did consider it. However, I thought it may be too flashy. Agree/disagree?
5) Why not get a Turbo or Turbo S? Yes, I did consider that carefully; because I want a Targa 4S and not a Turbo,
6) Why don't I consider another car brands in the $200K sphere? Again, I thought about couple other brands, but I wanted a Targa 4S:-),
7) Please note, I buy and don't lease. Have I taking into account the depreciation value, of course I did. But in the final analysis, I look at this car as something to enjoy/keep and not an asset to sell/trade at a future date,
8) Again, I profusely thank you for your thoughtful comments, it made me re-reconsider few options.
In the end it's your car not anyone else's. So get what you want and if resale is not the issue more important to get what you want. The car will be great either way.
