So much marketing for a car that's already sold out.

Sold out would imply that it was offered for sale. Unless there is a 918 in your garage, it wasn't.

It is a marketing tool to distract NY Auto Show-goers from the 4-cylinder VW engine powering the badge-engineered Audi SUV it shares the stand with...that actually IS for sale.

Sad what Porsche has become.

There are a small amount going to non 918 owners, but those are even privileged sales.

I agree it's a halo car to help sell the other model lines. Showing off a car that barely anyone has a chance to own is pure marketing.

Interesting article about the limited availability; explains some of the logic...

you snivelers realized there is a forum for this right? this has been hashed over and over and over in multiple threads. if you're a small fish and didn't get one of the 991 units, there's nobody to blame but yourself. get over it. and if you don't like porsche or what they've "become", there are plenty of other cars in the sea.
god forbid a for-profit corporation be great at marketing their product.

By marketing an unobtainable car to 'purists'...unobtainable, that is, unless you bought a hybrid electric AWD supercar, the furthest thing from a 'purist' automobile there is...in order to bolster a 'sporty' image for crappy SUVs is deception, not great marketing. More Kool-Aid for you, sir?
