Default Missing your Owner's Manual? You're SOL

The good folks at the dealership from which I purchased our latest C4s did not include the owner's manual. It apparently was not in the car when they purchased it. I've backtracked and it was lost somewhere between the original owner's trade in and arriving at the selling dealer. Why do I provide this back story? Am I the only Rennlister missing the manuals?

Well, the dealer has had the 2014 owner's manual on order since shortly after the car came off the delivery van. IN NOVEMBER! Today I reconfirmed with the dealer that the docs were still on back order (they are) and then I called PCNA.

PCNA is aware of the lack of owners manuals (at least for the 2014s). There is nothing they can do. And nothing they can suggest to anyone unfortunate enough to have lost or never received their manuals during a used car transaction, even a CPO. PCNA acknowledged other owners have called with a similar request.

Maybe the manuals are going to the same place all the MPSS 305s are going - Kentucky for the C7s!

I'm sure glad I've had a 981 and a 991C2s to learn on. And I applaud the selling dealer for looking to "lift" a set of manuals from an incoming trade. But a huge FAIL to Porsche and PCNA for not providing docs that owners require.

So please, no RTFM replies if I ask any RTFM questions okay?

When I bought my 991 CPO, they had a 997 manual in the glove box

I ordered one myself and didn't even bother since I didn't notice until well after delivery.

Same here, sort of. CPO, no manual, asked dealer, they sent 997, I bought 991 from Suncoast.

Also, the "Good To Know" app for smartphones is pretty handy.

At this point it is more about the principal. I have relevant experience and I do have the "Good to Know" app already. I just find it both interesting and frustrating that important printed matter can be out of stock for 3+ months with absolutely no ETA dates. Oh well, small rant/bitch session over I guess.

I like hard copies too. Nice sitting around and paging through it sometimes.

Understandable on the frustrating part.

Just like the forum member that only got one key. How hard is it to keep the keys and books with these cars.

Come on Porsche dealers step up to the plate .... it isn't that hard.

Agreed. CPO car should have manuals. No question.

Think you've got it bad? Turbos and GT3s aren't even offered with manuals, brand new! And don't bother trying to order one.

My 991 C2S came without manuals in a private sale. I was able to get every owners manual.
SiriusXM pamphlet
Privacy Notice for Vehicle Delivery card
Consumer Arbitration Program pamphlet
Pirelli pamphlet
911 Carrera Owner's Manual
Porsche Charge-o-mat in case you seldom drive notice card
Porsche Roadside Assistance Owner's Information
PCM Quick Reference Guide
PCM Manual
Warranty and Customer Info for Model Year 2012
Emissions Parts Warranty for Model Year 2012
911 Carrera Getting Started - Quick Ref Guide
911 Carrera, 911 Turbo Maintenance Booklet
The Next 911 instruction Booklet
The Porsche Model Range An Introduction Booklet

I got all that from one seller on eBay last year for $200. I was a happy camper, especially when all was in like new condition.

It's there but you have to search for something to get to it and then you can page up and down through the manual. But the search feature is a bit flakey.

I have two manuals. After my Euro delivery I took it out of the glove compartment so it wouldn't get lost in shipment back to the states. Then on state-side delivery, my dealer put a fresh manual set in there.

Here's the link to page 1 of the 991.1 html version.

Have not found an easy way to move around other than page by page or my guessing page numbers and entering as last number in URL, and moving forward/back from there but its better than nothing.
