I know they don't do carbon, but hopefully this piece meets your expectations or the wrath will be unleashed.
not impressed with their wind deflectors; a great idea, but the set I got, one of the holes in the deflector, into which you screw the mounting tab, was too large
and the screw would not 'screw' ...
Thanks Man! Here's my next and last add on piece! I had the white emblem for the AIRBAG deleted and went with yellow to match my belts, chrono, and PCCBs.
I successfully removed the chrono housing by pulling straight upwards with force, after popping the back and the front sides first. Man, it was tight and stubborn, but came out in one piece without breakage.
Tiny 3" Center speaker was replaced with aftermarket high end, and the voice in music improved noticeably, but not dramatically. It is a tiny speaker.
You bet. Can you tell me the where you sourced the center speaker. You have my curiosity now lol. And is the connection a direct plug and play? I may do the tweeters too. I am going to keep the car for a long while, unless I get to old and broke down to get in and out of it someday. (:
I think it would be really cool if Porsche had as an option a dash cam as well. Like built in discreetly in the back of the rearview mirror or somewhere. The way everyone is on phones texting, it might come in handy.
I had a GTR I hard wired one into and it worked well!
Basically I just pulled straight up on the sides pretty hard and they released. Its such a tight fit on the whole piece and I know it's scary pulling it apart for fear of breakage.
Believe me, putting it back together is simple. Good luck!
Center speaker change is almost nothing compared to the improvement you notice with the tweeter change. I highly recommend changing the tweeters first.
Oh, the tweeter grills are the same deal with the chrono housing removal. They are super tight and need that scary upward force to remove.
Hey strato, I wanted to do the same piece on my steering wheel but when I asked the dealer if they could change out that piece they said they hadn't done that and wasn't sure if they could. Have you done this yet? Was also thinking of doing the paddle shifters......can this be done? Thanks and the carbon on yours looks awesome!

Hey Gra,
Thanks for the compliments. I was told by one vender that the steering wheel had to come off to get the silver center piece trim to release because its such a tight fixed piece with the male female fasteners holding it on. It seems this may be so because that trim piece is not sold separately and maybe thats why your dealer told you that. It has like 10 hooks that aren't really meant to come apart, but will if done properly.
I took my car to Porsche in my area and these guys are very sharp. In fact the dealer has two 918s and sent their mechanics to Germany just to learn how to work on that car. So I have faith in them. lol The techs looked at it and I was quoted $85 bucks to have the trim put on. My car has an appt. in 10 days so I will hopefully have pics to follow!
I am not even going to attempt it because of the cost of this part. The other parts were pretty easy. But this looks to delicate for me. They said they would drop the air bag, and get it installed. It may mean pulling the steering wheel as well.
I will keep you all posted.

Thanks strato for the quick reply.....could you ask them if the paddle shifters can be removed and replaced? Would like to have the ring and shifters removed and painted black (satin). I did it on my 997 and it was great. No paddles though had MT.
Thanks again!

Yes I will do that, when I get in there. I am pretty positive they can, but will let you know.

Ok heres the deal. That center wheel trim piece has to come out. I know this, because I broke mine taking it apart to install my carbon part. I don't think the dealer realized this was not meant to be taken apart when they quoted me the good price.
Thank god, John at MaCarbon fixed my wheel. I can tell you one thing, do not try to do it yourself. I pulled and worked on it with a piece of wood and a plastic hammer for 2 hours and finally got it to come apart.
I thought here we go, finally. As I pulled it apart, the wires pulled out of one of the paddle shifters, tabs broke, the leather got creased. I was like OMG. lol Pricing out a new wheel will give you a heart attack.
I called John at MaCarbon and he got it done in one day, and shipped the wheel back and it is perfect. These guys do the best work. And he even used parts he didn't have to so he could fix my wheel because I bought my paddles from him prior and was a repeat customer. I will post a pic of it soon. If I need more carbon, they are my go to guys for sure! I was treated more than fair!
