Nice work. I had at least one reputable paint shop tell me that was not the code! Perhaps they meant it was not the mix they needed.
Super.

Stopped by Fountain Valley Paint (Orange County CA) and gave them the code. They looked it up and said 10 minutes I could have a pint for 135.00 plus reducer and clear coat.
No affiliation.
PS same mix as posted PDF

Awesome shop that has done a ton of work for me, including a standard and a custom repaint of 2 different cars. The only one I trust in Atlanta.

Call Autoglo in Tucker. Talk to Ted and tell him Mike Golding sent you. He doesn't use Glasurit anymore, but I'm sure he can mix it or have it mixed.

Spoke with Ted.
Looks like it is no problem, have a face to face meeting this week to discuss my wheels and the paint.
Regardless, it appears that the paint is available.

One of the best threads here at Rennlist. Finally an answer to a question no one could answer until now. The paint recipe was the missing link. If in fact the required paints are available here (NA) then all will be set. Let us know how it turns out.
Nicely done and thanks!

Boomer.
For those that may not know, Boomer is an affectionate term for Submarines that carry the deterrent Nuclear tipped Missiles. As we used to say - "16 empty Missile tubes and its Miller Time".
And now back to today's regularly scheduled programming.

Just changed my sig pic to the black chrome wheel. Invented by my client Pacific Rim in Pittsburg, Ca.
the wheel you see is a 17" BBS on a black 968. The wheels have none of the old chrome problems with blister and peel but curb damage is serious. Has a black/gray lustre finish depending on sunlight. I don't recall the cost but it was competitive with powder coating.

update
one pint paint 135.00
one pint reducer 100.00
satin gloss only sold by the gallon 400.00
paint shop said this is a water based paint and very hard to spray. And, if you dont use the right reducer and clear you wont get the color you are looking for.
any one else get feed back from paint shop?

Well, spoke with Ted today as suggested.
Pretty well much indicated that they could match the paint based on the code and the formula I provided - but would not use Glasurit paint.
Actually, I'm not that much of a purist, so as long as the material looks the same and wears well, I could care less if its Glasurit or PPG.
So, there you have it. I'll be having my SSR wheels done in the next could of weeks. I already have a set of the Center Caps in hand, so one of the things will be a test shot on a metal surface to allow to dry and make a side by side comparison before we actually paint the wheels.
Stay tuned...

i'm sure other folks would like to know. if the color ends up being the exact same (finish, color/hue) then who cares i suppose.
