Default What is the best method to know when 2017 991.2 GTS available

All, I need your guidance. Following my fiasco of going through my local Porsche dealership to order a 2016 C4GTS in early Jan, only to have the dealership tell me a few days later they could not place my order; I do not trust them to know when I can order a 2017 991.2 C4GTS in the US.

I also submitted a "complaint" to Porsche USA, since they still have the "build" option for a 2016 GTS posted. The response was an unapologetic "foad".

Regardless, my guidance request, what is the most reliable method or channel to know when orders can be placed.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Come visit here again in 2yrs. About when another one should be available.

Plenty of new 991.1 GTS's on lots now. Look around! I'm sure you can find one to your liking with a little work.

The dealership should have known this up front, they would not have had
any allocations since production had stopped already!

+1

also, any new car will be launched at one of the intl auto shows prior to
production, Paris, Geneva, Frankfurt, and will be reported in the motoring
press... this is how I found out about my car in late 2014.

this is probably right. Keep in mind that in two years time the 991 will be at the end of its model cycle, with loads of spyshots about the new model - sadly hybrid? :-( - floating around, to be introduced shortly thereafter....
In short, things change quicker than ever... there will always be a new model.... just buy what you like when you are able and enjoy... who knows what the world will look like in two years time. As STG said above, there are still a few GTSs on dealers lots looking for an owner.... also, MY 2017 (aka 991.2) will be launched in less than two months... in stock 2016s will be heavily discounted to move inventory before they become the "old" MY....
just my 2c.... best of luck...

Thanks all for your comments.

I have been seatching for a new and even used 991 C4GTS, but none with my core requirements have appeared (eg agate grey, 7 mt, leather interior, no sunroof, etc.).

The Porsche 911 represents a "dream car" for me, and I tend to keep my cars for a long time (e.g. I've had my E46 M3 for 14 years). So I am essentially looking for my last sports car, since I expect the following car will then be a Golf or Civic; something my aged body could drive.

I'll keep looking, but suspect owners understandably keep their wonderful cars.

The "4 & manual" will be the tough part. If you're open to rear drive or PDK it may help your odds.

The dream car is the 991.1 NA GTS. I'll let you know if I see anything out there.

Have you asked a dealer to search the US inventory for 7mt or agate cars?

You are unlikely to find an exact match but there is inventory out there still

My local cleaning lady showed me a Porsche release schedule and the GTS is scheduled be announced in October this year in Europe. First deliveries early 2017 because next gen is to be announced late 2018.

how reliable is your "cleaning lady"?

I suppose that could be the case, the release of all the facelift models seems to
have been accelerated ... so a GTS at the end of the year is possible... although
we have *not* seen either a power kit or aerokit option announced which I
think would be a prerequisite for a GTS...

They might announce the power kit and GTS at the same time, as you said an "accelerated schedule" is clearly in motion.

I wonder the reason for the "accelerated schedule"??? Hmmm.... Really not the norm for Porsche unless they're .................. Have my theories

Chief sales guy at Porsche dealer who has already seen the forward release schedule For 2016. He told me about the Macan GTS and 991.2 and was spot on about both so have no reason to doubt him on this.
