Default Wanted to buy a Corvette

I just retired after almost 26 years of Federal Law Enforcement. I was going to buy a 2016 Corvette, Pretty much had it picked out. So my wife tells me that to her a Corvette screams old man looking for a 20 year old girl!. She asked if I was interested in any other type of car. I told her that I have always like Porsches, but I only wanted a 911, as there would not be enough room in the Cayman. I always thought a 911 would be out of my price range. She tells me to go see what I could find. So, I look on the local Porsche dealers web site and I find a 2014 CPO 991 base with only 7000 miles on it! It was a little more that I would have spent on the Corvette, but was in my price range (as I was paying cash), As far as extras, it has PDK, PDLS, Premium Package with the 14 way seats. Also has the Bose system. The only thing it did not come with that I really wanted was the PSE. After a week of negotiations between car sales, parts sales, and Service, my salesman was able to get me a great deal. So hopefully next week it will have PSE! It is not my DD, as I have a Raptor for that job, but I have been driving it a lot. The more I drive it the more I am in love with this car! Thanks to JR at Porsche of San Antonio!

As a past Corvette C5 owner, I can fully relate to your experience. The Corvette was a great, fun car...but the Porsche...well. The build quality, fit and finish, and driving experience are superior in the Porsche.

Congratulations!

Spend a couple of days on the Corvette Forum, and you'll see your wife was right.

Congratulations on a beautiful car. Enjoy your retirement, and THANK YOU for your service.

Congrats @DBull65 on your new 991.... looks awesome.

I know a lot of people on this forum hate on the 'vette ... but the Z06 is an AMAZING car and could eat anything other than a GT3 or TTS for breakfast on the track. The problem is that the build quality does not even come close to Porsche.... and yes... unfortunately the corvette design language is really busy compared to the finely sculpted lines of the 991. I will be very interested to see Tadge's (corvette chief engineer) mid-engine creation which should be released in the next few years ... I wouldn't replace my 991 but I wouldn't mind having one as a stable mate.

Welcome to Porsche ownership and retirement. I strongly support both.
Thank you for your long career in federal law enforcement. We should all thank our lucky stars that there are guys (and gals) like you willing to do the jobs most of us would never try.
Enjoy your beautiful new 911.

What a great way to celebrate and reward yourself on your retirement! Congratulations!! Well-deserved. Enjoy the car often. Love the silver S wheels on a dark car.

Great choice and your new ride looks slick. Look into signing up with the S.A. PCA Longhorns in your area for some fun events ! http://www.longhornpca.org/index.html
See you soon. T

Thank you for being in law enforcement. I have a lot of respect for you and your brothers.

You married very well. Go give that girl a hug.

I really like the new Corvette. Wish I had more garage space.
