Default Replacing battery- radio code?

Does the 2014 PCM use a radio code when you replace or re-connect the battery?

The manual says "battery ... must be initialized by the control unit" and then goes on about doing this without really telling you how to do it. Of course they only wan the battery to be replaced by the dealer.

Anyone had to replace their battery yet and if so what happens?

Have not yet, but in the years ahead, I plan to disconnect the ground strap from the battery during winter (Chicago area). I know that I can keep the Ctek on it, but this is my choice. Is there any downside on this such as a radio code or anything else? I also promise to keep a high end rag on the frunk latch as to not latch it.

I disconnected the battery in my 2012.5 to replace a switch in the door panel without risk of setting the airbag off, and there were no ill effects.

I wonder if a Ctek, plugged into the cigarette lighter socket, would hold enough residual charge to hold the codes for a battery change?

I disconnected my battery to install my Laser Interceptor and didn't have to do anything to get the radio working again.
