Track Days
I just registered for my first track day (with a Porsche) with my 991 GTS. April 18th @ Lime Rock. I can't wait!! Anyone else getting ready for track season this spring/summer? I have extensive experience on track with BMW M3's but not with 911's. Really looking forward to exploiting the potential of my 991 GTS on track.

Rule # 2:
Make sure you have insurance coverage before you go. Many policies now days specifically exclude coverage at track locations. You can buy supplemental insurance if that is the case with your insurance company.

Hmmm! April 18th. I have an event scheduled on April 6 & 7 at LR and I am probably going to run on my Pirelli Sotozero 2's. Last April, it snowed on the day of the track event and the temps were so cold that no one could get their summer tires heated, not to mention those with track tires. Truthfully, if it wasn't LR, I would not waste my time or $$. In any event, have fun and buy track insurance. Ontrack is much less than Lockton, so do some shopping.

What insurance company provides supplemental insurance? This is the first time I have heard of this and I am fairly well plugged in.

Duane, I'm soon to sign up for HPDE events in our area. Any insight towards track insurance would be appreciated (particularly after you posted the deer strikes on our local track)

Anyone have any quick times for 991's on Lime Rock? I'm expecting at least a second quicker than my E92 M3. The quickest i was running in my mostly stock M3 (only changed tires to Yoko AD08's) was 1:01 flat.

"Any facility or grounds designed for racing or high speed operation of the vehicle". Some policies will just say 'to exclude racing events' and others will say 'to exclude and incident within the confines of a racing facility".
If you have that exclusion then you should buy supplemental track day insurance for your DE event as not many can afford to ball up a $ 100K car and walk away from it.
While I Instruct occasionally, I don't drive the track much any more with my own car but if I do take mine out for a two or three familiarization laps I dial it way back to about 80 % since I don't buy the coverage for the eventf. If I was doing full sessions all day I would highly recommend it.

Have race car in trailer - we have an event tomorrow! It will be cold, in the 40s. Ugh.
on the insurance side, I have a policy with Heacock that covers car and trailer, right up until it drives on to track.
And for those that might think about it, here's an article to consider:http://www.insurance.ca.gov/0400-new...ease112-15.cfm

Will likely track my Cayman S this summer if I can get a redirect for the exhaust to beat sound at Laguna. Would prefer for my first car track day to be on a track that I know really well, and that means either Laguna or Sears.
