Default Why are there 2 exhaust tips per side?

According to my garage floor, and my thermometer, the outside tip doesn't seem to do anything? Is it just for show?

Both tips work!

One is routed from the side muffler, and one from the center mufflers.

I'm not 100% sure how PSE works with the valves on the center mufflers. Maybe lower RPM's only side mufflers are active? I know they (centers) fully open at a certain RPM, but are the center mufflers functioning when the valves are off, or just a certain capacity? Might make sense since these aftermarket bypass pipes essentially just eliminate the center mufflers.

Any BMW guys remember the Dinan e46 M3 exhaust? Outer tips were just for show, had zero exhaust flow, great design for cold days.

my understanding is what you state STG991! - sides are always functional the centers open above 35xx or when PSE is switched on...

Isn't there a way to keep them open all the time?

They are both open on start up and then the flaps close a few seconds later.

Then yes the PSE button will open them back up again.

Mine (no PSE) stay open about 45 seconds on cold start up. Like Lex once said, time to put sunglasses on, seat belt, let the blue tooth connect to phone, then drive off! When the engine is warm, then they don't open at all at start, at least not to my ears. Lastly, IMHO the PSE button "should" default to the last setting it was in when the car was shutdown! I don't have PSE so my SharkWerks side muffler delete stays "ON" all the time😀!

There's that place that can program the sport button to always be default "on". You send them your button unit so they can do it. What's the place again?

The reason they are open on start up is because they are vacuum activated. It takes a while for the vacuum to build up and activate the valves on tick over (about 10-15 sec on my GTS).

That's because there is still a vacuum in the pipe, so the actuators stay closed.

If you want your pse on all the time, just disconnect the two pipes pipes on the actuators, and seal off the vacuum pipes so they don't keep sucking..
