That's exactly how I thought about it.

The laws vary by state, but in California, for such a special car (Rennsport GTS), the dealer is more than likely just the broker (that is, they never own the car and are acting as middle-man for PCNA). If this is the case, in California, you are not bound to take the car by a deposit (which is refundable and capped at 2.5% of the purchase price) or purchase agreement. In fact, it seems that you are only bound to take the car once you sign for delivery - then it is yours and there is no backing out.

Insofar as people backing out of agreements to buy, I dunno' buyers remorse I suppose. It could be though that the majority of people do follow through on their orders - it is just that we only hear about those that do not.
You're absolutely correct. The dealer told me that if I don't take it he will have to ship it back to PCNA. No issues with deposit.

Congrats - IMHO a great choice. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I saw the special at Rennsport and even though I'm a cabriolet guy, if I had the extra cash I would have called my dealer in a heartbeat. If that look "spoke to you" then you did the right thing.

I am a C4 guy, I own a 993C4S, a 97C4 GTS, a 997 Turbo and a 991 Turbo S.

My Rennsport arrived this weekend, and it is a great car and you'll love it. I own 7 911s and have driven them since 1984, nearly every day.

I have a 1980 Weissach. No one ever says it's just paint.
