981/991 DSC Sport V2 Controllers Now Available!
Introducing Tuning Software, Velocity Table, and Magnetic Motor Mount Control

With years of success developing the 987/997 DSC controllers, DSC Sport is proud to release the new 981/991 DSC Sport Velocity (V2) controller. The V2 controller utilizes much of the same technology and programming capabilities as the previous generation controllers, once again offering both improved track performance and street comfort. Additionally, the V2 controller introduces a velocity table and magnetic motor mount tuning control, available for the 981/991 chassis.

All 981/991 models are Velocity compatible, made possible by the factory four wheel ride height sensors now equipped on all models. Velocity tuning allows adjustment based on the velocity of the piston rod movement, more accurately tuning the chassis to road surface changes. This feature provides a new dimension of tuning that maximizes both performance and comfort.
For vehicles equipped with the (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) PDCC option, the V2 controller improves upon the magnetic motor mount control offered as an option from the factory. This is a vital improvement for precision handling in fast corners, high speed transitions, and rapid load changes.

Along with the V2 controller release, DSC Sport tuning software will be available for download at www.dscsport.com on December 7, 2015. The tuning software allows users to create, share, and download custom suspension tuning files to be used for specific tracks or roads, unique rain set ups, or to improve compatability with other aftermarket products and vehicle setups.

We are currently sold out of the first production run of DSC V2 controllers. If you would like to reserve yours, simply email Jordan at jedwards@dscsport.com with your full name, email, phone number, and year/make/model. More units are on the way and, and we will be fulfilling new shipments shortly.

"it depends"; personally I think that the GTS is a little over sprung/damped even in normal mode, and sport is unusable IMO...

When I installed the DSC in my 997.2 GT3 I found that setting "1" (road) vastly
improved the damping over OEM PASM... the other two modes provide an
additional set of (potential) mappings for either spirited road or track driving.

I hope that OOTB the 991 DSC will provide a similar improved damping for the normal/road setting, and will provide similar flexibility for spirited road and
track...

If you are happy with the performance of OEM PASM dont dont need this, but if you would like the ability to have that tuned, and be customizable (particularly for track) this is the mod for you.

Frankly as far as my GTS is concerned, I want a better "normal" mode and a more useful "sport" mode for the road, as I am unlikely to take the cabriolet
onto the track (again) but then again you never know...

Once I get it installed (figuring that out...) I will report on my experiences
with the OOTB maps for the unit on my Cabriolet.

Default Cabriolet install instructions...

I thought I would share the instructions how to install the DSC controller in a 991 Cabriolet.

The PASM controller is well hidden on the Cabriolet in the same location as the cabriolet top cover ... close to where you would install a SmartTOP controller
so the access instructions are the same as that (which is covered in detail
in other DIY threads and also on the mod4cars website):

- park the cover in maintenance position (remove key!)

- remove the trim from the rollover protection bars behind the rear seats, using
trim tool

- undo the phillips head screws (one on each side) under those covers

- gently pull the trim piece off the deck

- unhook the carpet from the back shelf (in 7 places) you many need
pliers to remove the carpet at each end

- fold the carpet back

- facing the rear of the car the top controller is mounted vertically on the
back of the firewall just right of center (drivers side)

- directly beneath that (horizontal and upside down) is a mysterious silver
box that looks like the DSC in shape and connecters (one smaller to the
left one larger to the right)

- the unit is held in place by friction, push back the sound padding towards
the end of the car and slide the unit out

- take the smaller (left) connector off 1st, it has a locking tab on its left side
as you pull it back the socket will detach

- the larger connector (right) is a tough coookie, it has many pins some
larger than others and is very tight ... very gently pull the locking tab
to the right, while pulling the left end of the connector away from the
PASM controller, its a SOB but it will come free eventually

- now simply install the DSC connect it up and replace it in position reverse
all the install instructions (now is a good time to also install a smarttop too)

BEFORE closing everything up, power the car up and make sure there are
no warnings...

turn car off, remove key (again) and close everything up ... viola!

BTW if you want to leave a USB connected in order to re-program the DSC
I think you will need one of these in order to get the DSC to seat properly
