4.5% off MSRP for a 16 911 GTS a "good" deal?

I have learned much from RL and the posters- LexVan among them.
My advice is to get the car if it meets your requirements and not fret too much on getting the absolute best deal you can. You will likely soon forget the price once you start driving the car. 😀

I got 5% off my custom-ordered 2016 911 GTS cabriolet. I felt like it was a reasonable deal given the limited allotment of spec-ordered cars (at the time that I ordered it in August) and given that the NA engine is going the way of the dodo bird. If you want to get a better discount, ask. The worst thing that can happen is they say "no." If they do, I would take the car anyway. You won't be disappointed.

As several posters have mentioned, the 991.2 GTS version of the Carrera is not on the immediate horizon and it's introduction date is uncertain. Timely comments, but not necessarily useful to your effort to get the car at a lower price. On that score, here are some things which will affect the cars value and may be helpful in convincing the dealer a lower price is fair.
What is certain is, in April, Porsche will introduce into the market the new 2017 Carrera S, a car which is likely to outshine and outperform the older 2016 GTS you are trying to buy. For example, 0-60 speed of the 2017 S is estimated to be 3.7 seconds (http://www.motortrend.com/news/2017-...engine-lineup/) while the GTS is 3.8 seconds. Not a lot, perhaps, but bragging rights, which have value effects in this car segment, will belong to the newer car. Also in that vein, you will be saddled with an old technology naturally aspirated engine (yuck!) while the rest of the world transitions to the new technology turbo engines. Finally, while the introduction date of the new Carrera GTS is unknown, the mere fact it will be introduced is going to suppress the value of the older version.
You should ask for, at least, 10% off sticker.

Really? Many would disagree with you.
Somehow the past 50+yrs Porsche has been getting it wrong in the NA 911?
Is it inevitable that we have to read such nonsense in every thread these days? Most of the time with guys under 5 posts to their name. I mean seriously? Let's keep the IQ above 100 here already. This isn't the 20 something Beemer/Honda/Subaru forum.

Surely, you're joking. You must know the reason manufacturers are resorting to turbocharging, and that turbocharging is not new technology.

I'd give him a break. I don't think he's arguing any of those points, he's just trying to give the OP some ideas he might use to negotiate with. Must we bash everyone that asks a question or attempts to answer it?

This.
The culture of this 991 forum is degrading more and more with every negative and unsolicited reply.
No one here owns these forums. No one. What gives anyone the right to śhit on particular OPs? The mods better start to come down on this. Removing STG991's rant thread wasn't a lesson big enough I think. Soon there won't be anyone interested in asking questions or joining this forum.
Furthermore, why the hell do people give irrelevant responses? You have nothing relevant to say? Then stay away.
