Well after a long week I got to bring home my first 911! I traded in my 2014 Boxster S for this CPO 2014 991 S. So far I really like it. Now to get my clear LED sides, blendmount / mirrortap, and a couple other little items put on tonight! Big thanks to STG and the deal thread!
Very nice. Two questions. What's in the tumbler? How difficult is the detector installation?
1. My "this is going to suck garage scotch"
2. The detector install was not horrible. It took me about 45 min. I did the same install on my Boxster S and it took about 5 min. There was a lot more slack in the cables on the Boxster than the 911 for some reason, and getting the homelink/dome light console down took a lot for pulling as well. I assume this is because of the tighter fit with the alcantara compared to the headliner on the boxster.
I think it looks really nice and clean without the expense of doing a full built in detector.
Congrats! Initial thoughts on going from a Boxster S to 991 S ???
991 feels much quicker (and I assume it is lol)
991 has a much harsher ride (partly due to the POS P zeros IMO)
991 has a bit more drone when cruising on the freeway
I am still getting used to the new ride and due to some light alignment issues (different thread) I haven't really had the chance for a good spirited (but safe) drive yet. I'll update this in a week or so with some more thoughts.
Honestly in a perfect world I would have both, and IMO if I wanted a cab then I would go Boxster S all day long. However I live in Houston where its so darn nasty hot I'll get way more use out of the Coupe.
