Default Word of warning for people storing their 991s

Folks;

If you are using the cigarette lighter to keep the battery charged over the winter, there's a servo that will shut off the power from the interior cigarette lighter to the battery after a certain period of time (I've heard anywhere from 1 month or 2). I went down to my dealer & had them install the frunk cigarette adaptor. Quick & painless fix.

I've used the passenger footwell one and never have had issues.

I don't believe this to be true. I use the cigarette outlet with mine. On occasion, I grab the locked door handle to force the Porsche battery maintainer to cycle "on". I can see that it's working even after +3 months of hibernation. But, then maybe I am reactivating the servo? Regardless, it's been a non issue for me for many years of Porsche long term storage.

I believe the trickle charger, when plugged into the passenger footwell outlet, will keep the car "awake" by the very nature of its charge/drain/charge cycling.

have used the cigarette lighter for 3 years, never an issue. I do not touch the car door handle to activate it. Usually store the car for 3 plus months, last year being the exception here in NE. Hoping the winter is shorter this year at least the snow totals.

Most battery maintainers come with ring connectors that you can connect directly to your battery with a quick connect/disconnect harness that goes to the tickler. That is what I did.

That cigarette adapter in the frunk is the weirdest location I have ever seen. Is that storage unit usable now?

Never a problem in the smoking package console outlet w/battery tender for me......

This situation sounds like a $150 toilet flush

YES, and I terminated the connector at the base of the windshield so the cords are not routed thru any doors.....

Is there any difference between the plug insert in the passenger footwell and the console with the smoking pckg?

On my 2013 Boxster S there was -- the console plug would "drop out" occasionally -- never could figure out why....
