thats not a good idea. high load at lower rpm is not a good idea. Anything under 3500rpm is fine.

I have a 7TT, so thats likely the reason for the time difference, but the concept is the same.

You're best to start rolling right away at rpm under 4K, the faster you can get heat into the oil the less cold start wear you will have. Letting it idle with low oil pressure and rpm is not a great idea as there could be areas that will not get oil until higher rpm are reached.

Unlock door.

Enter cabin.

Open garage door.

Start motor.

Put on seat belt.

Put on sunglasses.

Drive away.

Keep below 4,000 rpm till oil temp is in the 160-180 range.

That is the hardest part, especially since my drive to work is less than 3 miles.

Sit down.

Buckle Up.

Fire Up.

Open Up. (Garage Door.)

Tune up. (Adjust audio source and volume.)

Drive Off.

Keep RPM under 4k until oil temp exceeds 160.

Funny you say that because it takes about 10 min to warm up the car and by the time that happens I'm usually already at work as well.

I presume you're referring to lugging the engine. If you drive the PDK version of the 991, the car keeps its revs below 2000 in most gears. Damn thing shifts 5 times before you are out of the driveway. The up-shift indicator in my car makes me keep the car below 2000 RPM also.

I love the noisy idle. I wish it stayed that noisy all the time! When I listen to it I think THIS is how I wish my car actually sounded. Instead of the quiet stock exhaust.

What areas aren't getting oil with the engine at idle? thats just not true.

I still don't think its a great idea, but I guess the PDK shift algorithm does this for a reason.

great. What is your basis for assuming that this could be the case?

I open the garage door before firing the engine so I don't set off the smoke/carbon monoxide detector in the garage.

I agree! And I believe the initial cold startup rpm is slightly higher, then settles down. Makes no difference if you start in normal or sport/sport+ either. I am seriously considering the SharkWerks side mufflers delete "race" exhaust mod. Read somewhere recently by one of our posters, sports cars are suppose to make noise! The 991S is a bit quiet. PSE is cool but you actually lose hp/T with it on. I want some performance w that "noise"!

How much HP and Torque do you believe is lost due to PSE?
Why do you think that happens?
Where is that documented?
