I have always wondered about this as well. glad to hear that they treat customers who buy used cars as well as new car buyers at Porsche dealerships.

My wife works at a high volume japanese car dealership and I know for a fact that the "pre owned" folks get treated differently there. I've read about some horror stories about PCM not covered under the CPO warranty, which sounds like a nightmare.

in general , new car dealers, esp the mass market commodity brands like Toyota , make many, many times more on each USED car than each new one, even on the same model .
Why ? ....because used car buyer has NO idea what a dealer paid for it and each preowned has its own unique mileage , care and maintenance related mechanical wear and appearance condition , options , etc., as opposed to many internet saavy NEW CAR buyers these days ...like us .....who generally walk in already having dug up somewhere online the wholesale cost, dealer holdback, current factory to dealer trunk money ....even current shared regional advertising costs , if any .

And in the case of a Porsche CPO 911 customer , the sales dept would treat them well since the profit is the same or more and especially because a buyer of a warranted /depreciated car like that is more likely to flip for another CPO in 2-3 yrs at " only " a $20 K further depreciation-related trade in value drop than a new 911 buyer/owner who is staring at a $70K+ " haircut " to flip into another new one in the same 2-3 yr timeframe and decides to keep the current one several more years since it hasn't yet melted in summer heat or dissolved in winter rain !

Porsche San Antonio and PCNA treated me just as I had bought new. No issues here

My 2014 991S is a CPO. From a purchasing standpoint, from how service is handled, and by Porsche USA, I feel treated like a new car buyer. While I haven't had but 1 minor service issue, I can't imagine being treated any better than I was. Plus the warranty is actually better, and I saved at least $20k.

I have purchased 4 Porsches. 2 cpo's & 2 brand new. Have always been treated well & fairly by the service dept. no matter which car was in for service. Purchasing experience was more pleasant/"easier" with the cpo purchases vs new purchases. In my cases, dealers seemed more amenable to negotiating on cpo vs new.

The reason being that they have a lot more profit margin built into the asking price of a CPO car.

Typically my local dealer (I am close with them) make more $$ on pre-owned cars than new cars. As such, they treat CPO buyers very well.....

Great information... now comes the hard part.... convincing my wife into letting me buy a CPO..... LOL. It's partially a culture thing and it's also her working in the industry as well.

CPO buyers get treated no differently than new buyers.

Buyers don't get sized up as potential repeat buyers and therefore receive better treatment. A dealer either treats its customers well or it doesn't.

One new (CS) in 2006, one CPO (BS) in 2014, one CPO (911S) this year -- and no difference whatsoever in the way I have been treated for any of them -- Euroclassics in Richmond Va.

My experience of purchasing a CPO 13' 991 was indistinguishable from purchasing a new 15' Cayman. Both were handled very professionally and an overall great experience. Even received similar new owners's kits.

I had the same exact experience. thats a lot of money saved for a very lightly used car....
