This EVO reviewer curiously notes "a massive change" in the steering feel:
"Up on the island’s equivalent of a B-road the steering weights up beautifully in your hands as you load up the suspension in corners and it really encourages you to push the car. This is a massive change from how the electric steering behaved in the first generation 991 when it was launched."
If it really is "a massive change", it surely is an interesting development. But I feel that this reviewer may be somewhat exaggerating. The steering feel of 991.1 is already supreme for an electric steering system (while some think it's inferior to the old hydraulic system); how could have it been massively improved?

The big problem with most electrically supported power steering systems is that they re-center the wheel electronically based on software. They don't do that very well, there has always been lots of room for improvement.
I heard that the F80 M3 power steering actually re-centers on its own without the electric motors getting involved.
For my definition of steering feel that would be very important.
