I'm enjoying mulling over the OP's question. Glad he took the time to share his pleasurable dilemma with this community. It's even making me wonder if I'm being too 'safe' with the colour I'm speccing for my C4S.

Here's my take on the bold vs. low key color questions. A lot of people would agree that both of these colors are awesome. Where people will disagree is whether they could live with each color for years. That is personal, but I think most people know their answer to that question, if they're honest with themselves. I love lava orange; one of my favorite Porsche colors. But I'd never own it on a DD or higher use weekend car. Just too flashy for me and I know I'd tire of it. I know I'd never tire of GT silver. Some people are the opposite, but I still think it's an easy question to answer for most people.

very unique color
As a fellow Mexico Blue owner, I have to echo these sentiments! As for Lava Orange, I'm not really sure what to make of it. In some pictures, it looks fantastic but in others, it looks somewhat muted and pinkish. I'd have to see one in person to be sure. Regardless, I'd pick something more unique than silver.

Lava orange looks pinkish to me so not my bag to say the least. But its definitely unique. GT silver is ETERNALLY wonderful. Can't get tired of it. Rather than shocking you in the beginning and getting boring later its just pleasing from the beginning and you like it more and more as time goes by.

Are you able to get PSE without the new exhaust pipes. I don't know why Porsche is changing the design to middle exhausts....

Both colors are awesome - do a coin toss, and go with that.

Lava Orange will not age well on a regular 911 C2S.

For a car like a GT3/RS, it's a little different, as those are "look at me" cars to begin with.

Lava Orange. It's unique but not too over the top. Looks great with a ducktail too.

If you care anything about resale value get the GT Silver, it is a timeless color that the majority love! Yes the lava orange looks good but it will get old fast you will get tired of that color. I think the crazy colors only really look good on the Lamborghini for some reason I would never order a Porsche in one of those colors.

let me counter that by saying that I have received numerous inquiries over the years about selling my GT3 because of the PTS ... also the Orange and Green GT3 RS .1's are very much in demand.

Agree with this sentiment. Bold colors look fantastic on 911's (especially at the track). If it's a weekend/track car it will probably never get old. If it's your DD and you drive it everywhere (corporate functions, etc), LO may not be the best choice. Conservative crowd may think it's obnoxious to drive an orange Porsche..

You need to see Lava Orange in the flesh. I've seen it up close and It can look a bit pink/red, I guess the clue is in the name. I think if I was going for Orange I'd want straight up ORANGE
