PSE "on" opens the valves in the exhaust and makes it a LOT louder, if PSE is "off" the valves will open themselves past 3500rpm as I recall...

To clarify:
PSE button "on" the sport exhaust is on at ALL times.
PSE button "off" sport exhaust not fully open and quieter in the low RPM's. Rev it over around 3,500 RPM's, valves open automatically and you hear it as if the button was "on". The vacuum valves open automatically.

PSE gets a noticably "angrier" exhaust tone immediately at idle when the PSE button is pushed on. With the PSE turned off with a Carrera S there is some sort of exhaust sound change at higher rpm . . . something is opening up. Not sure if it is less or more at the higher rpm if the PSE is switched on.
The Carrera S stock exhaust is supposed to open something up at higher rpm according to the brochures. Is this different from the PSE or does PSE eliminate that separate "high rpm open exhaust system" on the Carrera S?

you forgot the 'F' ...
which reminds me of a joke ...
a man walks into a grocery store and after looking around the produce
section in vein he stops the grocery clerk and asks:
"do you have any bananas?"
to which the clerk replies "no sir we are sold out"..
the man walks off and again searches the produce section again, again in
vein...
He sees the same clerk, stops him and asks:
"are you sure you dont have any bananas, I cant find them anywhere?"
again the clerk says "no sir, we are completely sold out of bananas today"
and he walks off...
frustrated, the man again searches for the elusive bananas, to no avail...
He finds the same clerk and again asks:
"are you certain you dont have any bananas?"
The clerk exasperated says:
"sir please spell bananas"
To which the man replies...
"B A N A N A S"
The clerk responds:
"wrong you forgot the 'F'!"
The customer responds:
"What? there is no 'F' in Bananas!"
to which the clerk responds:
"that's exactly what I've been trying to tell you!"

I wish we could have PSE on during cold starts because I like scaring small children and women.

What is the sound difference between non-PSE S exhaust with valves opening above 3500rpm versus PSE exhaust with button "off"

PSE with the valves closed does an amazing job at staying quiet and letting you fly under the radar. Even with my Cargraphic X-pipe on my '13 C2S, the car was super quiet (almost the same as a stock car) with the valves closed.
