991 steering feel
I recently bought a 991 carrera S and noticed that at high speeds (>100mph) on uneven roads the steering gets uncomfortably light. I suspect this is due to the front wheels not having great road contact. Have others encountered this? I know that the turbo and other 991 iterations have a different front end-adaptable front lips and aerokits, etc. Do these improve the downforce and thus steering feel? If so would I get improved handling by getting the Aerokit.
On smooth pavement the steering is very solid regardless if it is on a track or smooth country roads. However, when the road gets "slightly" uneven making the suspension do its work the steering feels less connected from the road. It is still better than the average car for sure, but is not as good as on smooth roads. So the question remains, will the steering improve with a different front splitter etc?

Am I the only one who is going to point out that going 100+ on any public road anywhere in the US is not necessarily a good choice? Okay, maybe we all do it once or twice, but if the steering feel is a concern it should IMHO based on track experience, not highway driving. Sorry to come across as an old curmudgeon, just sayin'.

Coming from other cars to my 991 and yup my first Porsche (R8 GT. RS5, RS7 and many others) my wife even commented at speed from the passenger seat that it felt light in front but yup 3 out of 4 of my stable the engine is way out front...my 8 not so much...but wow by the way that she said it). Bowling ball does work and my wife commented later on a Costco run with a pile of waters in the front it felt better...so um bowling ball. UM she noticed. That was right after I bought it then blew time on a few posts here of thoughts of adding things , I did add a duck and more importantly the sport design front bumper and yes indeed the car feels much better. PS I hit 100 daily on the on ramps so um a decade of track I ohhh never mind. The car should not feel light as it does but that IS what a 911 is...I need to learn waaaay more of how to drive the car to enjoy it better but I should have bought a GT3 so problem solved. Long commuter though my ventilated seats and a nimble car will make my future 140 a day ok. My new front does feel better...so hope you already do not have the sport design bumper. The air pressure comment is important but not just this feel, it affects more...I think my dealer just changed my pressures on my first service as my warnings are lighted up...the pressures now are way lower than when I dropped it off and I got the warnings one day after my service...they changed it more towards comfort where I had them higher when I dropped it off. Pissed about that. Yes I have a compressor but why the heck did THEY change the pressure. Anyway sport design is the best add or regular s you can add the deeper plastic lip from suncoast or sunset cheap which I did right before the full bumper switch. Helps but the full change really does get exactly what you mean better...its my first Porsche so my next comment is that my R8 never feels light at oh never mind again. .
ehh edited...if you meant the pavement vs the driver I take it back. Anyway the PASM front lip helps as does the aerokit. Agree on getting to the track.

He has a base car and if you didn't own a pile of Porsche's it takes a minute to adjust...I have years on the track in my other cars and I do need to learn my 991 that is new to me but your comment is what is irritating to non Porsche folks, how is it constructive... sorry the damn thing needs in base form more downforce in front (GTS anyone, it has it). I have had three of my cars at 150 plus on the track but my 991 as base (before I added to it which is what he is asking) felt too loose anyway and more so in cross winds on the interstate than the cars I drive daily or at Sebring, Daytona COTA and others. Sorry I have had a few drinks but your comment is why I am turned off here. And why with my R8, my RS5 and longer ago my RS6 I ran over Porsches on the track with my driving in cars that were heavier engines in the wrong place blah blah but just passed them. Damn that Quattro thing may work. What is your point other than to turn him off or **** him off.
