Don't believe that is true- the official WM for adding PSE has the entire button array replaced. You can't just add the button to an open "blank" spot on the right or anywhere else for that matter. The reason? If you actually crack-open the button case you'll find that the circuit board is not dynamically configurable and would have to be replaced to map a new button.
Well, what do I know? I'm not an expert....

So now I'm confused
After querying with the parts guy, he led me believe the whole console was replaced. He went on to say that it came in a box with lots of pink foam packing that made it impossible to be damaged in transit.
But the way the button looks, it's seems that they forced it in resulting in the cracks. What I can't understand is why the other buttons look damaged as well.

Nope.
Comes with the complete exhaust system and dash switch.
Search this subforum for the long PSE Is It Worth It thread. You can do the install 1) with no switch, 2) with the switch installed in the first open spot, or 3) have the auto on off switch moved down and the switch placed in the OEM spot, but again that takes reprogramming from what I understand.
They did the standard install, they just seem to have damaged it in the process.
I wouldn't expect the PCB to be replaced, since all of the button pads are present:
You'd have to be pretty ham-fisted to damage anything when disassembling/reassembling the button housing. If there were an easy way to screw it up, I would have found it myself.

Which is not exactly unusual at dealerships... I wish they paid their employees better, or treated them better, or did something to make having your car serviced an experience better than a nightmare of incompetence and negligence.
