Default Put the "sport" shifter in my car...

...from the GT4. Too much of a wuss to install it myself without any DIY so I paid the dealer.

It cost a lot relatively speaking but thankfully, I like the results. I was highly skeptical about how much of an improvement this would be but, I'd bought the part prior to knowing it wasn't actually a shorter throw in the traditional "change the pivot point" lever. I do feel that it makes the shifting just a touch quicker from the shorter more positive throw. A bit more effort to move the lever out of 3/4 gear alignment as well but that's a positive in my book.

In a nutshell, the shifter sits 20mm lower than stock and there is a spring return to neutral that the original did not have. A slight learning curve for shifting up and down the first time but easy. It's still fairly new to me but I feel the stronger return to neutral will make it easier to prevent wrong gear selection under stress with the 7 speed when downshifting vigorously as the increased tension when in anything other than 3rd or 4th makes it clear which gate you're in.

Here is the GT4 shifter:

Thanks for the write up. Great mod - you interact with the shifter everyday, great place to spend your money. Was very happy to see that this was available.

Thanks for the write up. I am interested in doing this as well. Did you get the short shift kit from Suncoast?

This is a great idea. The revs in these cars drop pretty fast. What is the specific part number for the GT4 shifter? Or is it the above mentioned short shifter kit?
