What cracks me up is the variation in hours quoted among dealers. I heard everything from 5 to 12 hours when I called around. And the dealer that did the work completed it in 4 hours. If a dealer is quoting 10 hours for the work, they're ripping you off.

I too live in southern California and am considering adding PSE to my '15 C4S. Which dealership gave you that seemingly high quote? I would like to avoid that one.

Beware, PSE is a huge step up from non PSE, but is still very quiet for a sports car imo. I would watch a bunch of the exhaust vids before deciding.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am aware, which is why I want it. I previously owned a 2013 CS4 that had factory PSE and I kept it on almost all the time. From all the threads, and after a discussion today with my Porsche service advisor, it appears that the dealer installed PSE will function identically to the factory installed one.

Hey, 991C4, just a pedantic note, if you care. I believe that PSE stands for Porsche Sports Exhaust, just like every one of the silly acronyms start with P and that stands for Porsche. Porsche Communications Module, Porsche Stability Module, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, PASM, PSIP, blah, blah, blah.

I would be extra clear with your SA up front as to what his interpretation of "identically to the factory installed one" is. I say that because I had heard the same thing when I had my dealer install PSE on mine. Only to pick it up after the first visit to find no change out of the center counsel button assemply with the PSE button. So in normal mode...no PSE and no ability to turn it on. In Sport or Sport +, PSE on all the time with no ability to turn it off.

That obviously led to the "where in the hell is my PSE button" conversation, which led to them ordering it and setting up a second visit.

After the second visit, yes....works perfectly like the factory installed one.

Other than the pain in the a$$ need for the extra visit, I think it worked to my advantage, as he didn't charge me labor to install the center console button assembly. I think my total outlay was just under $2,900.

Totally transformed the car though....a must have option in my opinion.

for future reference, and as to the question pertaining to (higher) installation costs on a Base model that also includes installing the exhaust button in the center console, the reason for the higher cost can be due to both the hourly labor cost (los angeles dealerships = $110/hr-$120/hr), longer install time on a Base, coupled with the removal of the front seat(s) for the purpose of installing the wiring/sport button in the center console. or said another way, $1,000-$1,500 for PSE installation is not out of the question in these parts.

I just had it installed on mine 3 weeks ago! 10% discountPCA and no tax because i have a dealer license ! $2500 installed was my damage! Shoot I meant 3500

Thanks. I was aware the "P" in most of the Porsche options stood for Porsche. I am the proud owner of my 5th Porsche:

2009 Panamera 4S
2010 Panamera Turbo
2014 911 4S Cab
2015 Macan Turbo
2015 911 4s Cab (again!)

And all those "P's" I got on my options list cost a pretty $!

I have an S and they had to wire the button into the console. Full install, including the button, took 4 hours.

I just got a final quote from my dealer in SoCal, which includes the console button and complete Porsche specified parts in the 911 S retrofit kit. With labor it will be $3,400. I am pleased with this quote and have scheduled the install for next Tuesday. Can't wait!

Mine is a non-S but if I can get close to this price I'll have mine done soon! I'll be making a call tomorrow.
