2013 911 Carrera with 16,000 miles (one owner). It's CPO but it has a curious carfax report:

• 03/08/2014 7,937 Battery/charging system checked. Battery replaced. Engine/powertrain computer/module checked
• 04/10/2014 8,795 Vehicle serviced
• 05/29/2014 9,018 Vehicle serviced
• 04/03/2015 14,386 Oil and filter changed
• 06/10/2015 14,832 Leak detection pump replaced. Engine/powertrain computer/module checked
• 07/01/2015 15,208 Vehicle serviced

That seems like a lot of vehicle services, and those two battery/engine/powertrain reports make me a little nervous.

Any thoughts?

well its CPO so you should check CPO coverage to determine 'what' is covered, also if this is being sold by a dealer, then get them to dump
the services history, this will have more detail than CARFAX so you can
see what was going on!

there are a jillion 2013s and now 2014s out there, many look like new coming off two to three year leases with clean records ....I would move along if you have the slightest concern regarding any avail CPO car !

If it is a base 2013 Carrera , you should know that they are being traded-in the mid 50s ( yes , it depreciates like a typical non GTx Porsche , not a Toyota ! ) options irrelevant , even though dealers are slapping $73-79k asking prices on them, so there is a lot of negotiating room as long as you dont gum it up with a trade in of your own, then they will simply use smoke and mirrors to get you coming or going !

The leak detection pump replacement showed up on my 2012.5's Carfax report also. I've seen it on other cars as well and I believe that it's a bad batch of parts much like the early issues with failing change over valves.

+1 to Larry's comment. Don't make a decision based on a Carfax report - get the history from the dealer.

The only question I would have is why the car was serviced on May 29, 2014 given the service 400 miles earlier. I'd find out exactly what was done at both of those servicings. The rest of it, I wouldn't care about.

That CARFAX wouldn't scare me away in the least. The car had a dead battery. It could have been a bad battery from the factory, or more likely someone parked the car for a period of time, i.e. over the winter without a battery maintainer, and the parasitic battery draw killed it. The 3 "vehicle service" entries are most likely not serious but a check of maintenance records can address that question.

Another thing I just noticed is that the first carfax record is the vehicle was offered for sale at 4,814 miles. There is nothing before that. Perhaps they used this car for test drives?

my two girls have crashed the same Audi three times icluding one who ran it straight into a tree trunk and one who side swiped two parked cars (Range Rover and Tesla S ) resulting in the front right really bashed in

recently one of them failed to yield and drove a Lexus in front of a MBZ and sustained major right fender and door and wheel damage ...not a single one of these four collision repairs show in their CarFaxes , even though three of the crashes required 3-4 wks to repair !

my experienced body shop guy says CarFax only shows accident repairs that entail frame straightening , so buyer beware !

Not at all true. There are many triggers for appearing on a CARFAX report, but the primary one is if a police report is made of the accident. CARFAX gets information from thousands of sources and has over 6 billion records on file. They have deals with motor vehicle bureaus in every US State and Canadian Province, where they get information about mileage, flood damage, titles, lemon buybacks, accidents, thefts, liens and ownership transfers.
CARFAX buys info from insurance companies and other sources. Some insurance companies have a non-disclosure agreement, where they will not disclose information about your car and its accidents while other insurance companies are willing to sell that information to make money.

none of these events had police reports ..only the California DMV SR-1 report for any damage > $500 as required by law

as Carfax has matured into market dominance and become one of the chief tools for dealers to sell used cars, I wouldn't be surprised if they have enough big data now to know what the minimum amt of accident/ repair info they need to " buy " and still make $$$ profit and keep their reputation clean enough after paying off their " guarantees " to buyers who later did discover accident repairs that Carfax " missed " , so again as always, buyer beware !

My wife was rear ended twice (minor damage, not structural) and both accidents showed up on the CarFax as "minor collision - no airbag deployed" or something like that...

Any idea what C2S's are being traded in at? I'd love to catch someone right before trade in and beat the dealer (or Carmax) quote by a few thousand. While a CPO car would be the ultimate buy.. if I can get a 2013/14 under the original factory warranty and save $10K.. then its worth it not to pay the CPO price.
