Guys - is there any progress on the ducktail being available for the 991.2, if not I am not buying 2017 4S
Also I have seen this pic of a guy with the black 2017 on line with the ducktail installed, what real issues would there be installing this, and or any issues to the car ?
I really want to order one and make it work for the 2017.

That's a 2016 991.1 GTS with ducktail and GTS style engine cover. It seems that in rare cases Porsche can be convinced to deliver it like this from the factory (in the past, since they aren't being made anymore) but for most people you have to buy either the ducktail or the engine cover and combine it yourself. The only drawback is the cost.
It's very easy to spot the year/revision by the tail lights. There can be some 2016 991.1 cars and some 991.2, but 2017 will be 100% 991.2.
To be super clear, there are no more 991.1 cars being produced. Well, unless the 50 or so 911R still uses the 991.1 body style, but unless you already purchased a 918 you aren't getting one.

No. It's a 991.1 GTS. He has switched the engine cover grill from the standard Carrera grill to the special GTS grill, which isn't allowed from the factory but can be ordered separately. GTSs with ducktails don't get the same grill that other GTSs get, which is the grill on this car.

2017 ducktail
What if I order the ducktail I need to know how to make it fit on 2017, there has to be way to mod it, the rear deck is the same, there must me some internal fiberglass screw holds that need to be changed around on the actual tail ? Anyone know specifics ..... I need this thing to bloody work or I am passing on the car, and driving my 98 jetta with 550000 km till it dies ...

There is a reason they did the slats a different way and omitted the bigger wing causing airfoil disturbance in that area. If it works cool, but it wold an expensive option.
Or maybe a big turbo is an option with the money you save. Maybe a nice preowned. You get a spoiler on the back and even something way faster if thats your desire. Just thoughts! Whatever you choose, good luck!

This Car and Driver article says that the rear spoiler pops up to force more air into the intercoolers to help cool engine inlet combustion air. I've always assumed this is due to creating more pressure differential between the high pressure top of the rear end of the car (at inlet grill) and the lower pressure area under the rear end of the car (intercooler exhaust grills). In looking at the picture raising the spoiler may also increase the air opening area for air flow into the engine bay and intercoolers.
If so then the duck tail would always be forcing more air into the engine cover grill and intercoolers so it shouldn't restrict power as mentioned earlier in this thread (at least to my train of thought).

I think the new .2 Turbo's rear gill design would solve 991.2's air flow concern if Porsche ever decided to come out with the the duck tail or aero package for 991.2.
What do you guys think the look of that center inlet vent on the new Turbo's rear grill?
