Default Porsche 911 Carrera s Black Emblems

Hi---I dediced to try the "plasti dip" method of changing my chrome emblems to matte---It took around 45 mins----My first attempt was a mistake which was easily remedied by peeling off the mistakes---I drove my car to Home Depot to buy the paint---In my eagerness to get the letters painted--I forgot that hot engine lid equals bubbled paint---after the surface cooled ---I proceeded-

A couple points:

Go to You Tube and watch a few DIY videos for Plasti Dip Emblems

Never paint on hot surface (I can't believe I did this lol)

For me--the best distance to paint was around 5-7 inches to get smooth surface---farther away led to orange peel effect---

Dont mask to close to the letters as the overrspray actually lets you peel off the excess very quickly and almost unbelievably neat.

Wait @ 5-7 mins between coats (depending on heat and humidity) 4 coats did the trick for me

Use a sharp wood toothpick to remove excess from inside of letters

I cannot attest to the durability of the result---but I handwash so not overly concerned. I also like the idea of it not being permanent so I can remove if desired. I wouuld say if you enjoy projects then try this mod as it was low risk to paint / surface damage---I am sure the letters that are painted are a better long-term solution---
I will probably still get painted emblems but I enjoy tinkering and it was fun for me to try---

Picture or it never happened.

I'm actually in the process of plastic dipping my friend's 997 C4S factory wheels too.
