Kind of old news - it was originally announced about 18 months ago, confirmed again in June pre-LeMans and just ramping up the PR train more and more now. Wouldn't be surprised if it lands earlier as they rolled out the Cayenne and Panny hybrids a year ahead of schedule.

It'd be a good debate, if they let the buying public choose. I don't mind a turbo, if NA is an option, or vice versa. Ditto for PDK and manual. I suspect that on will "win" for reasons other than supply and demand, and the alternative will no longer be offered…T

No surprise. I've never driven a Prius, but that's what I imagined it would be like. A 120K Porsche-rius or Panamera-rius. No thanks.

I'm all for the introduction of new hybrid vehicles...it means more gas left for me.

Curious, what sucked about it? I know little to nothing about that car. I thought it had a decent size motor, just used the hybrid system to assist. Not true?

What didn't you like about it? IIRC the Panny and Cayenne e-hybrids got good reviews about their driving dynamics.

This is exactly what I mean when I tell people I love Tesla. "OMG, you drive a Prius?!! That's awesome!…"

Parked, you couldn't even hear the motor. It wasn't even running. People were thinking the car wasn't even started. Driving, it shifted way too early and felt like a luxury cruiser. They had a Panamera GTS there, which let me tell you, was pretty wicked for a sedan.

Got to be a passenger with a few of the Porsche driving school instructors for a few "hot laps". Wow. Those guys rock. They had a 991GTS, 4S, and S. The S I rode in didn't even have Sport Chrono, and he ripped in that car. I can see now, even having the slightest turbo lag could really screw a driver up on the track.

I asked one if they'd driven the 991.2, and he just said "they're all good". Blew off my question.

<br/>The car that surprised me the most was the Cayman GTS. That thing was amazing on the autocross area they had set up. The Cayman GTS sounded great!!! Impressed.

The 911's were on the track, and the Cayman/Boxster on the autocross. Wonder why? ha ha.

Also, wasn't impressed with the Macan Turbo exhaust at all.

The 981 Caymans are seriously great cars. I'm curious to see how the turbo fours screw with the magic of the current version. Such a shame.

It was lumbering, joyless and oafish. Also, it felt hugely heavy and oddly reminiscent of a lifted bro truck without the benefit of off-road capability or gun rack. It just felt wrong.

Making cars no one wants and using up valuable natural resources for them because of arbitrary millage standards makes a lot of sense to me.

What a disaster an electric 911 would be.

4cy?? What a MISTAKE!

The Cayman gets beat up by some, but that GTS and GT4 are great cars. It's a great platform, but Porsche holds back their full potential. Always living in the shadow of the 911. It shouldn't. It's a different kind of car and experience. Mid engine Porsche? Let it kick *** even more. Don't neuter it with a 4cy!

They don't want it to compete with the 911 too much and thus it gets stuck in the marketing hierarchy. Just like Prince Harry and William!

I personally would like to see a turbo 4 cylinder. That's what is in my wife's SLK, and it's a zippy little thing, fun for around town. Put something like that in a Cayman with Porche engineering, tuning, driving dynamics, etc. and I think that'd be a fun little car. Good MPGs for road trips would be a bonus. I like the E concept car styling, and I appreciate what they're trying to pull off, but 300 mile range doesn't get you too many places in Texas.

Of course, if they gave that option in addition to providing a NA 6 cyl. - for those who want that - that'd be awesome…T

Name me three high priced, high performance turbo 4s that sell well? I think Porsche has a much bigger challenge with the Cayman than the Carrera when it comes to the turbo transition if it uses a 4 in the Cayman.
