Yes, I think you are missing a part. I think that is the piece that you need to remove if, for some reason, you need to remove the dummy key. There is a tool that you use, once that trim piece is removed, to remove the dummy key.

Don't mean to hijack, but how DO you remove the dummy key? Although I don't know why I would ever have to.
Leave your FOB key in the house. Got to garage and try to turn car on. MFD will give you an error message. Turn dummy key to the left and you will be able to remove it.

Only if you get two different error messages back to back in the MFD , then you hear a click when you shut off ..remove dummy key immediately , or it will be locked in again if you dawdle for even a couple seconds
I have never tried that procedure. I was just referencing what the manual says on how to remove the dummy key. I did notice that one owner stated in the above referenced thread that the procedure for removal without using the tool did not work. Have you tried removal without using the tool? Regardless, I still think that trim piece is what needs to be removed IF needing to remove the dummy key with the tool. Pretty sure that is the piece the OP asked.
