Remember that Porsch'e Turbo's don't just pop on like they did years ago. With their variable turbine geometry it just ease's on much more so than popping on in the olden days.

With that said I would rather have an Naturally Aspirated engine; still! But keeping the engines at 3 liter's or less for taxation reason's for the Chinese market is stretching "IT". Further I don't know how much a smaller displacement engine with a turbo is going to make emissions / pollutants versus a larger displacement without one? I have been saying for the past few years that Porsche and other Car Companies with smaller engine's and larger wheel bases is a play on USA's 2020 Cafe Requirement's.

One thing is for sure to make 400 horsepower regardless of displacement and forced induction there will be a need for just as much gasoline in theory to make 400BHP. To make specific amounts of energy an engine still needs X amount of potential fuel. There is only so much forced induction can do and other tricks car companies with developer's come up with to help lower emissions.

Largely true, though improvement has steadily occurred over the past few decades.
Good mileage is nice--but honestly, who buys a Porsche for stellar MPG? Those individuals who obsess over this particular factor might want to consider the Prius. Or a shiny new SmartCar.

I have both a NA and turbo, I love the sound of the NA but when the turbo is up on boost, it is fun.

I have a E92 M3 but have driven a couple of the new turbo M3's. The low end torque of the new turbo engine is nice and I'm sure it's faster overall but the the progressively more powerful all the way up to 8300 rpm V8 is much more fun for me to drive vs. the low end torque and then not much on the top end turbo 6. Much more of a sports car feel vs. diesel truck.

At the altitude I live a NA engine loses around 10% of its horsepower whereas a turbo loses virtually none. For that reason alone a turbo has some appeal. But balanced against slower throttle response, less engaging sound and more weight--I have to say NA is my preference.

NA FTW!

I have no interest in modifying a turbo car to useless power levels.

For a 911/981 NA hands down.
For a Cayenne or Macan Turbo is fine.
The difference is that NA has a lot more character (linearity, RPMs, Sound) than a Turbo and THE engine to have in a sports car. An additional 50HP and increased torque are not enough to make me switch from a NA to a Turbo.

My vote is NA...
Since my car is about 6 weeks old I could have waited a short time and got a turbo. I chose to buy now and get NA

Apples to apples hp and torque - NA. "Cheap" tuneable and relatively easily modified without being a U.S. Manufacturer (although new z06 and hellcat as well as gt500 are all FI) then FI

I've owned both Porsche types. I'm abstaining till the new model arrives. I remember too well the same debates on air cooled vs water cooled, 997 to 991, I'll wait and see what the engineers have done with the car. As far as sound I had Europipe exhausts on 3 previous TT's and they sounded amazing. If Porsche doesn't make the car sound great and all else is good, I will.

I would like to try it before making up my mind. For me the turbo would be great as my car is a DD, and the turbo gives you more fun in the lower RPM range where I am most of my way to work. I can imagine for those that give it some track time, an NA will be more fun. But for normal, public road use ... I don't have too many opportunities to go over 100 mph in 3rd gear, which is exactly where the NA fun is to be found.
