OP, congrats. Hope you like the new car. The AMG GT-S is a fine looking car and has gotten good reviews. Hope it's everything you think it will be.

Took out the new gt-s a bit ago and LOVED it. Thing is really fun. More "thrilling" than the 911 around town for sure. However, I'd always rather have a 911 on the track. Street its a tough comparison for me...

There is an interesting article dated July 20th in Motor Trend. It a comparison with the Nissan Gt-R, Porsche 911 TT S, and the AMG GT-S. It's worth reading. The GT was rated number one as a driver's car and was the the overall first pick. That being said, they rated the Porsche as the best car but boring because it is so perfect.
My motivation was buying the second best car for 911 GTS money.

otoh, if the owner 1) keeps the orig tail for trade-in 2) never tracks or drives it in anger on local roads where the aero imbalance is dangerous 3 ) bought it just for the more mechanical feel of it putzing around in a " mature " way , what is the harm ...it is a way to get the " GTS " many here pine for !
Away from the track and counting within a 50 -75 mile radius of the major US cities where most new 911s reside, I suspect the number of accumulated MILES running over 100 mph is less than ONE , in 99+ % of cars
Design wise , it is the best looking current 911 when de-winged in this manner.
