Price negotiation on ordering 991 ?
Hi , I'm new here and was wondering if there's a way to negotiate the price of an ordered car? Dealers have been telling me that if you order a car, you pretty much pay MSRP. Also when does the negotiation happen? before the order or when the car gets here? Thanks!

I got about 4% which is not as good as many - search other posts. Do it before you order as you don't have any bargaining power later.
I also sold my car at order time to lock in that price but also kept the trade to help with taxes. This later hurt my bargaining power as I decided to to change my order to C4S instead of base C. I could have done better ordering the C4S before trading in my car.
Hope this makes sense

Didn't you just buy a C2S?

I did and I love it! I'm just posting for my friend who is ordering a c2s. I'm curious as well as I love this car so much that when the lease ends, I'm thinking of getting another one!

At LEAST 5% off or find a new dealer. No discount on a custom order? A joke. Maybe happening on a GTS now with a lot of dealers. Not a C2S.
Discount can also push 8% if shopping hard and willing to ship the car.

I used USAA's car buying service when we ordered our replacment Cayenne. There wasn't a dealer in Atlanta, but when I showed my dealer what I could get it for in South Carolina, they matched it. It was only 3500 off on a 83000 vehicle, but it was better than the MSRP they usually get for the diesels.

This makes no sense, unless it's a pressure tactic to get you to buy something off the lot that you don't want. When you walk into the dealership and say "I'd be willing to order a car today, if the price is right", you've already saved them a bunch of money. They didn't have to spend a lot of time pursuing the sale, and they didn't have to spend a lot of money floor-planning a car. You're a made sale walking in the door. If anything, it should be easier to get a discount on an ordered car. What am I missing here?

Price negotiation on ordering 991 ?
I went to order one in summer 2013 and we agreed to around 6-7% (in writing) but then I found a good deal on a CPO and got that instead.
Obviously it varies with location, specific dealership, maybe salesman to a limited extent, time of year, model and options. For me it was either a 981S or 991 base with low options.
