Michelin Pilot Super Sport - Rear Size Recommendation
#31
I do find it odd that the MPSS's never received an N rating. I bet Porsche charges a hefty development fee to the tire manufacturer to go through the process.

Are you now running the original Pirelli's on your C2S now? Have you noticed you really don't need to replace the fronts as of yet ? The rears tend to wear out approx twice as fast as the fronts (at least on MY 991). Could I suggest that you run a new set of Pirelli's on the rear for now and replace all four with the Michelin Pilot Sports next time around ? Also, really not much difference in size between the 295's and 305's anyway. Size comparisons here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....XLN0&tab=Sizes

Some K rated (Ferrari) tires have already moved on to a K2 rating.

My dealer told me that he thinks the delay in availability is that they are getting the N rating and are waiting on the to start making them again. That is his theory anyway.

The following six sizes do have an N rating, I wonder which Porsche they are meant to be used on:

265/35ZR19/XL (98Y)
285/40ZR19 (103Y)
255/40ZR20/XL (101Y)

335/30ZR20/XL (108Y)

it starts off as a business decision, will Michelin be an OEM partner for a
a particular model, then Michelin and the car company work together to
develop the brand variant together.
So N-spec MPSS are physically different to an MPSS on a BMW or MB...

Good idea, but need a new set. The tires came used on the Carrera Classics that I bought here on the forum. I suspect they were either tracked, under-inflated, or both. Outer edges on all four are pretty shot, and one of the fronts has a plug near an edge that I'm not liking.

When I attended the MPSS launch event Michelin went into some detail about the development of brand specific variants (and Porsche/BMW/MB engineers

Didn't Porsche run Michelins on their winning LMP1 monsters at LeMans? It's unfathomable to me that "N" variants aren't readily available on their 295/30/ZR20 & 245/35/ZR20's...

I've had a set of MPSS (305) tires on order since March. Just left Americas Tire Store with no ETA according to Michelin. And no excuses as to why. Very arrogant attitude of Michelin.
