Default Have you seen this message? See photo.

I was storing something in the luggage compartment of my 911S and noticed the trunk entrapment release handle on the passenger side. Just for the heck of it I pulled it. Well, that was likely a mistake.

I now have this warning message in the multi-purpose display. Moreover, my lights don't flash and there's no audible chirp when locking the car now.

Has anyone else done this? Am I correct in assuming I need to travel the 100 miles to my dealer to get this warning message reset?

As much as I love this car, sometimes I do miss my 2001; it wasn't as powerful but things were simpler then.

Thanks for any feedback you can give me. Enjoy the day!

Vic

Is your frunk properly closed and latched? You may need to manually slide the latch over, it will have resistance, and then close the frunk lid like normal.

Yes, trunk is closed tightly. When I pulled the release handle the latch moved into the vertical position. I pushed it...against some resistance, as you mentioned...to the left, closed the hood and it latched tightly. I assumed (that always gets me in trouble) that would be the end of it. But not the case.

We all have to live with the mistakes caused by our assumptions, but I think there may be a pattern with respect to gearheads/petrol heads getting into trouble with our curiosity. The "cat" one is an old saw, but this may go back to needing to take things apart when we were kids, just to see how they worked. I still do this stuff, but now I know not to mess with that. It kinda glows too, which may mean we have some "bug" traits as well. Sorry I can't help, but thanks for the heads-up:-)

Agreed. At least we know we can get out of the luggage compartment if we're locked in there. Not sure how I'd fit, but maybe if I was folded up. Funny thing is, if you were trapped in there you'd either be in a position where you couldn't spot the glowing handle or you wouldn't guess its purpose anyway.

Check the engine cover... that may have released at the same time.

I have no logical reason to think this might fix your problem, but have you tried unlocking the trunk normally and then closing it, now that you closed it after pulling the inside release, and see if that resets anything?

It did. Problem solved. I don't get why pulling the release handle in the luggage compartment would open the engine cover but that's exactly what happened.

Thank you for your help. You saved me a lot of trouble. I'll toast you during cocktail hour this evening!

No service messages, just the one message. Just had service done. Thanks.

I did try that and it didn't work. Thanks anyway!

Makes me wonder if the last of the graduates from the Hillary Clinton Correctional Facility in your area was looking for a nice place to rest.

Anything is possible these days. The luggage compartment looks like a better hideout to me. Certainly is roomier.

Your welcome. Glad you didn't have to drive to the dealership to hear the dreaded "they all do that"

Funny design... might be made for the hardcore gangster types that stash beaten up dudes simultaneously in both the frunk and the engine compartment....
