Default Radar detectors and video cameras

While researching radar detectors recently I came across a UTube video of someone who in addition to installing front and rear radar detectors also installed front and rear video cameras. I figured video cameras on my car would only show me driving too fast along with other equally fascinating footage of braking for stop lights and close ups of the SUV in front of me. I didn't see much use for them, but then Blake.A posted about being t-boned by someone who ran a red light and later denied doing it and I thought a video record could be a useful thing to have if the case went to court.

My question has multiple parts, and forgive me because I know this comes up from time to time. What radar detector set up do you have and do you have video cameras installed. If you do have video cameras installed, how do you use them?

Escort 9500ix radar detector, ALP laser jammers. As for video camera, you can set up a dash cam on your windshield and set it up to go on when your ignition is turned on.

I've thought about getting a dash cam (or similar) a few times, but despite being a relatively safe driver, I have always been afraid of the video being used against me, rather than someone else.

I have a 9500CI with no cameras, I hear cameras are needed in Russia, but having to erase drives and such plus not sure I want some of the things I do recorded..

the video camera is to protect you from asshats that are trying to scam you and your insurance company. If, however, you are the asshat, avoid using a dash cam, I suppose.
The video cameras are discreet and could be made to be totally concealed, so no one would know.
