Default When CPO replaces the engine, would it be a new or refurbished?

Hello,

I'm looking at a used 2009 and it says that the engine + clutch was replaced by CPO.

Would this replaced engine be considered a new engine, i.e. 0 miles on it or it is a refurbished engine and putting a miles/usage on it is very hard?

Does porsche just take back the old engine, fix it and and then send that engine off to the next car that blows it's engine? If this is the case, do they match the mileage or you get any random engine?

Any engine refurbished by Porsche can be considered as new.

Back when I blew the engine in my 1996 993 C4S, there were no engines around in either the USA or Europe, and I didn't want to put a junkyard one in the car as mine had only 12K miles on it as most junkyard engines had 60K or more on them. I contracted for Porsche to build one in Germany and waited two months for it through Brumos Porsche. In 1996 model cars, they did not put VIN numbers on the engines (I requested same VIN if they were starting with a new block), and it came with a 2 year factory warranty with no mileage limit. When the 996's and 987's were eating IMS bearing like nobody's business, Porsche was having them shipped back to Germany and re-building them, and then swapping them in and out of cars as needed. As for the 991, I don't know quite honestly, or if they have VIN numbers on them. But as Captain 911 says, if its from Porsche then its warrantied and good as new.

Pretty sure they are remanufactured engines. Nothing wrong with them, but they are not new.
