LOL...so true.

991s to 991s, I'd say 30% of the time way.

997 and earlier to 991s, like 80%.

Boxster and Cayman if 991 initiates, 90%, if not initiated inverse is true (I'm not saying that to be snooty - just an observation).

Agreed.

996/997/Cayman owners seem to have a much much higher rate. My thinking has always been people in the older models tend to be enthusiasts for many reasons.

With brand new 991.2's, it's maybe 20-30% return rate in the NYC/LI area.

Always have; always will. Simple to do and fun to see the results.

I've never had a response from the SUV's; about 20% from Panameras.

I will always give a thumb up or wave to a sports model assuming they are more enthusiastic owners. If they don't wave back, I assume they didn't see me, or the process of spotting my friendly gesture and reacting could not be done in time before we passed. So I think everyone waves back, if only mentally.

I got two waves this weekend! ...It was my first real sunny weekend, driving my new 911 (first P-car).

I must admit, I am not used to seeing other Porsches and reacting. But i did manage a response... mostly in time.

I have to find that white GT4 owner in my town. And, nice orange/red (?) GT3/GT2 in Portland, from a few years back.

Curious minds want to know ?

Seapar...the 997 was a gift just before she had severe mental breakdown triggered by a combination of issues and was diagnosed as severe bipolar disorder, with multiple suicide attempts and refusal of taking medications. In retrospect her purchasing the 997 as a gift was probably a hypomanic episode that went undiagnosed. After 31 years of a wonderful marriage she became a completely different person. It is a very very sad story.

I always wave.

I get about 80% of the 911’s and 50% of caymans and boxsters.

Honestly though, I swear I get 100% of the local Ferraris and a smile.

seapar 04-24-2018 11:35 PM

Sorry to hear about that Abe. Hope she gets better. Now about "that wave".
I wave like Robert Redford did at the end of "Spy Game" with Brad Pitt. Kind of a salute to the marine at the CIA entry. He was in his green Porsche.

I prefer my wave more friendly than that...

If you wave in Brooklyn, you're likely to get the finger....

Just had to laugh at this having lived in NYC for ~20 years.

If I would do that on a sunny day in Frankfurt or Munich my arm would go numb :-). P-Cars are here at every corner. On a good day, you might see 4-6 911s at one single traffic light.

Central/North NJ no one waves.
