While I agree that 5 lugs would be easier to steal, I don't hear much about owners on any of the forums complaining about a crime spree involving Porsche factory wheels. My guess would be that if you have aftermarket wheels you would be much likelier to be a target.

Stealing factory wheels to sell on the black market seems such a non-lucrative profession compared to flashier aftermarket wheels that could conceivably be used on more than a Porsche. After all, we have no idea what kind of wheels were on that Turbo S, but my guess would be that the owner ordered 5 lug hubs so that he had a wider selection of aftermarket wheels to choose from. It's only recently that the big companies have truly widened their selection of available centerlocks.

My point is that if you run factory 5 lugs I think the likelihood of theft is not high enough (for me at least) to justify the additional hassle of centerlocks. On top of that, I'd have a hard time jumping behind the wheel and driving a car that I hadn't personally installed the centerlock wheels on.

Of course there is no crime spree, that was not the point! You made my point by agreeing that they were harder to steal. Respectfully speaking! Not trying to argue. We both have opinions that work for us.

Yes, they were more than likely 5 lugs on the Turbo S, as the photos showed. And I understand the 5 lugs for you rock. And I agree I would have a hard time knowing anyone put them on but myself. That is what I intend to do. Its just all choices is all. There is not right or wrong answer.

I wanted to show the advantages of the center lock from my perspective when someone asked, and you of course are showing the advantages of the 5 lug. I am happy if you are

No worries at all. I agree with all your points 100%. I'll even go so far as to say that the centerlocks are more bitchin' than 5 lugs and look awesome. I just want anyone reading this thread to give the proper thought to which wheels are more appropriate for them before committing. That's the operative word, centerlocks are a commitment that an owner needs to understand before choosing.

Peace, love, and fast cars.

Cool man, we are good and thanks for being thorough. But you are right, there are tons more options on the 5 lugs. STG991 has some cool ones by HRE.
