Was talking to the mechanics at the dealership yesterday. I mentioned a great looking car that was on display and they all started laughing. When asked why the told me that the car was sold but the owner hasn't told his wife about the purchase.

I heard about a guy that did this, and when his wife found out, whacked the side of the door with a snow shovel.

True story.

^^

Mine have all been either Arctic or GT coupes. If it weren't for going to a red interior this time I think I could have gotten away with it!

A few years back, a guy on RL had just bought a Guards Red C4S. He was kicking himself that he didn't get a Turbo ans stated that his wife would kill him of he swapped cars, yet again.. So he put a wing on the C4S and ordered a Turbo in the same exterior and interior colors as the C4S.

After he got the Turbo he reported back that his wife never noticed the difference.

We have no separate accounts, so, yeah, she knows everything I do. Why be married otherwise? I find it baffling when I read surveys that say more than 50% of spouses hide money from each other. She knows every time I take a beating turning a car over - which is every time of course.
However, when I bought my '87 Carrera from the original owner in '94, he told me he had purchased it on a whim while in the showroom one day and hid it in one of his warehouses until just before Christmas. When he told his wife he had something really important to tell her, she thought he wanted a divorce, making just one more car no big deal (there were many nice cars in that warehouse). When I sold the car back to him in '01, they were still happily married.

Full disclosure works better.

I bored her so much with going to dealers, talking about or looking. She would just say to me "just get the damn car".

I am not married any longer, but my car purchases never went over well unless it was a car for her.

I'm still single, but when I pick up girls on dates I tell them how practical the 991 is because of the backseats that you can fit a child seat and that it's a great family car.

The other day I knew the girl didn't understand think much of sports cars so I drove with sport mode/suspension off for the 1st time and shifted very smoothly at low RPMs. I think we were both surprised how comfortable and relaxing the car can be.

Hey, don't put too many idea's in their head!

Either you'll scare them off or make them latch onto you!

Depends on what you're looking for!

When I had my midlife crises after 2 friends died and decided to buy a Porsche, my wife agreed.

So off I went to the dealer with my wife and 2 kids to test drive a Cayman S.
Whilst on a test drive with a SA in the CS unbeknown to me my wife happened to be chatting to another SA and went on a drive with a 991 C2S.

When I returned she said she forbid me to buy the Cayman S and insisted I get the 991 C2S instead!

haha! so true Focal! This is the tactic I used! Whenever we were even close to a Porsche dealer I would "swing by". My wife got so sick of just waiting around, she finally used those magical words "just get it already!" lol

I just enjoy a full-disclosure, non-confrontational relationship! ... with a Porsche, of course!... Happy Wife - Happy Life!
