CPO Warranty
How does the CPO warranty work. I just bought my CPOed car and the warranty says it is good till Feb 27, 2019. However, the previoues owner bought the car in September of 2013. Shouldn't my warranty end in September of 2019? Thanks

I would think so. It looks like someone made a mistake. I'm guessing that 2/27 was your purchase date?
I once bought a CPO car and they (the dealer) screwed up all of the paperwork too. Apparently that's quite common.

You have to see when the dealer originally "punched" the warranty.
Those sneaky dealers sometimes mark the car as "sold" to meet sales quotas even though it's not sold!
This starts the original warranty as well. Called "punching" the car.
In this case they could have punched it in Feb but not sold it until Sept.
A possibly scenario. Call them for an explanation. They have it in their system when the original warranty actually started.

They shorted the first owner 6 months if they indeed did "punch" the car. But obviously, that gets passed to you too.
This is very common among many car dealers unfortunately. I think it's the same case with my car. I'll have to check!
Call them and ask.

Sorry no they did not shorten the CPO warranty by 6 months! When the original owner bought it the dealer punched the warranty in February for whatever reason! The cpo warranty is 6 years from the original punch of the warranty. It could have been a demo car, loaner etc.

Just did and they say "the in service" date was Feb even though the car was bought in September. He says all of his left over 2014's in stock have been ticking for 9 months ,so by the time a new owner buys one they are already a year into the warranty. That sure seems strange...

It's just a stupid game they play. If that was the case, a car's warranty would start as soon as it hit the dealer lot which is not the case!!

The cars are sitting on the lot and haven't done anything. What does that tell you?
Believe me, your car was probably not a demo or loaner. Look at the mileage when it was sold. What was it?

Those cars rack on thousands of miles.
I wouldn't sweat any of this. Just don't drive the car for six months after the CPO warranty expires. There's no risk of anything happening to it sitting in the garage : )
