Default My 991 S Coupe Weighed Today!

Hello Guys,

I decided to get my 2014 991 S weighed today to see how light I managed to build it and see the corner weights. My spec:

991120 911 Carrera S 98,900.00 USD
N0 Agate Grey Metallic 710.00 USD
AZ Leather Interior in Black 3,690.00 USD
24901 Dashboard Stitching in Deviating Thread Carrera Red Carrera Red 390.00 USD
24902 Upper Door Trim Stitching in Deviating Thread Carrera Red Carrera Red 390.00 USD
24905 Rear Side Panel Stitching in Deviating Thread Carrera Red Carrera Red 390.00 USD
25491 Seat Inlays in Deviating Standard Leather (Front and Rear) Carrera Red Carrera Red 630.00 USD
529 SportDesign Side Mirrors 600.00 USD
583 Smoking Package 0.00 USD
635 ParkAssist (Rear) 610.00 USD
840 SportDesign Steering Wheel 250.00 USD
911 Model Designation "911" 0.00 USD
EER Interior Package Painted i.c.w. Leather Interior 665.00 USD
P05 Sport Seats Plus (4-way) 440.00 USD
XAT SportDesign Package 4,990.00 USD
XDH Wheels Painted in Platinum Satin 950.00 USD
XYG Center Console Trim Painted 290.00 USD

No Bose sound system, no electronic rear wing mechanism, standard headlights with no washers, manual sport seats, no seat heating, manual transmission, no sunroof.

So with just under a quarter tank of gas my car weighs 3075 pounds! That is approx 130-200 pounds lighter than a 991 GT3 and about what a 997 GT3 weighs. I am very happy with that number and of course could have shaved some more weight with a standard interior and carbon brakes...but I do love my full leather interior! I will post up the corner weights shortly. Thanks guys!

Great job!

This put you over the top! Dropping the "Carrera S" badge saved some serious weight!

Nice to see a dealer get excited about the cars they sell beyond the commission. Keep up the good work. No surprise you're in the top tier of sales.

That is surprisingly low. Nice build.

Where are you getting the weight number you're using for the 991 GT3? Test seem to be coming in right around 3200 lbs with a full tank depending on spec (pccb, etc). Take off 75 lbs for 12 gallons and you'd seem to get within 50 lbs of your weight, certainly not 130-200. Or?

GT3 weights are actual measured from car and driver, sport auto, corner weight scales, etc.

991 GT3 was listed as weighing just a touch above 3150 pounds, no?

Just going off the Motor Trend test number as I have that issue open:

Brett,

Your car would weigh only 3,074 pounds if you had not ordered metallic paint!

Seriously, that is a good, low weight number.

Amazing how Agate looks in different lighting. Great color!

MSRP?

Confirms my choice to switch over my center console to the smokers package instead of the useless open tray. Looks much better.

Maybe I'll take up smoking too??

Yea that's full tank vs you at less than 1/4 fuel. Fuel is heavy...
Also C&D has a different GT3 at 3197, so 70 lbs lighter:
http://www.caranddriver.com/porsche/911-gt3#

I'll bet the C&D has PCCBs no extended range fuel tank. With that option, the GT3 carries near 24 gallons or 150 lbs of fuel in the nose. Drop the MT car down to the same fuel level as you tested at and it would likely lose 115 lbs, meaning 3150 lbs vs your 3075.

I think between 40 and 75 lbs lighter than a GT3 is legit, not 130-200...

Nice car and color, and the ducktail... I approve.

Love your 911 Brett. Weight is pretty much the same as my 80 928 with a half tank of gas. T
