interesting that for 2016 models that option is no longer in the configurator!
It is still showing in the Canadian configurator for 911's (but that could be for 2015's?).

Porsche did not ask to see our International DL, at least not for us in Leipzig, May/2014.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, however - it's like wearing a seatbelt - 99.9% of the time you won't need it for its intended use, but for the other 0.1%, you'll be glad you have it.

It will be a great trip. Martin and his wife are good ones to follow -- I really benefitted from their advice and others here on RL. We did about 1/2 of their route (we took delivery in Zuffenhausen) -- will always regret missing the tunnels and coastal drive along the westerly shore of lake Garda ( seen in the picture above) due to rockslides.
