My first mod was the clear tail lights!

 

I spy with my little brown eyes, a beautiful 356 in that reflection.

Ok that has me a little scared considering we both live in Chicagoland! As Sgt. Schultz would say "I know nothing, nothing!" Don't want to end up missing!

 

I always picture cataracts, but I love your description too.

And yes, obviously it's a personal decision - like various wheels, lowering the car to be more flush / putting spacers on, color combos, etc., so what I'm really saying to the OP (like many others above) is: get what you like.

 

Depends on the color, but the red lights look nice w/red calipers if your car has them. However, clear side market lights are a MUST.

 

I think the car has great lines, and on some colors clear tail lights and front markers clean it up further. It's definitely subjective. Some people like a big spoiler, some like clean lines.
