Unfortunately I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's Mac only software.

 

Finally got my songs transferred over. Did it in 4 gb chunks to make it work. When I went larger, i got errors, or the PCM shut down, etc.

Now trying to figure out how why some of my music didn't transfer. Some is .M4P but others on the same album transferred as.m4a.

 

Those of you with high res audio in your library should know that the PCM 3.X can manage 48 KHz in addition to 44.1 KHz.

Another side note is contrary to earlier posts all is not lost in the land of MP3's. Using a LAME encoder at CBR 320 Kbps with a "-q 0" switch (i.e. insane quality) takes quite a while to encode but the output is practically indistinguishable from CD...downsample from high-res source such as 192 KHz/24-Bit FLAC file with those settings to 48 KHz and it's about all you're going to get out of any lossy compressed format over USB with our head units.

Last nugget..these formats are tested and incompatible (even when restricted to 44.1 KHz/16-Bit):

Will any of this adversely affect the 6 piece orchestra behind me?

 

The procedure to load the JukeBox work perfectly. It also worked with my BMW iDrive system.

 

So i have my JukeBox setup. Now the question becomes how to get a playlist setup. Either on the JukeBox or the USB? I've done the iTunes PlayList Export and I can see the .txt file on the USB. But I've not seen the PCM recognize it as yet.

I have followed the instructions provided in this post and copied the contents of my iTunes music folder to a Fat 32 formatted USB drive. I did not copy the music folder, just the contents of the folder which includes all the artist folders that iTunes has generated. I also did not add the other files that iTunes creates. This includes the folder entitled Album Artwork and the iTunes Library, (.itl) and iTunes Music Library, (.xml) files.

I am able to play music from the USB drive through the PCM on my 2013 Boxster S but I am not getting any album art or playlists. Without the playlists music navigation using the USB drive is difficult and disappointing.

Should I copy the Album Artwork folder and the Library and Music Library files to the USB drive to enable these functions. What about adding the M3U files for my playlists?

My Boxster is a new car for me and I am still getting to know all the features and limitations. One thing that I have not been able to confirm is if my Bose PCM contains the Jukebox hard drive. The option to add music to the Jukebox has not yet appeared for me. Is there a way to confirm that my Boxster has the Jukebox feature?

My goal, assuming I can successfully enable playlists, is to keep the USB drive connected in the glove box and use it as my primary music source. I have successfully connected a decommissioned iPhone that contains all my iTunes files to the PCM. Using this setup, I have access to the playlists but still no album art. This option works great but I would prefer to use the USB drive option or the PCM Jukebox if possible. If this is not possible, using the old phone is an acceptable fall back option.

I am hopeful that someone can point me in the right direction to create a fully functional USB drive solution.

2015 991 here. Everything worked fine except I have no option to copy the music to my jukebox. Music plays from the USB stick, but under Option, I don’t get any menu items that would allow me to copy. Ideas?

 

In my 2019, FLAC works without issue at 96KHz 24 bit, 4608 kbps (DVD) bit rate.

Also m4a (ALAC) at 96KHz 24bit, 13824 kbps also works and sounds really, really good with just a base system. The sound quality difference between this and CD quality tracks is incredible.

I was surprised they worked since the manual states they exceed the parameters of what the car can play.

I use an SSD connected via USB in the glovebox and have 51.8 GB library (approx 7K sonds) with no issues at all. My lowest quality tracks at CBR 320 Mbps MP3s. Quite a bit of FLAC/ALAC mixed in.

 

That's cool stuff with the Hi-Res on the 991.2. I'm jelly!

BTW...I re-encoded all of my stuff with AAC (A.K.A. M4A) using QAAC to employ the Itunes encoder in JRiver Media Center and dbPoweramp (for EAC CD Ripping). I'm not an apple fan at all but (as the OP stated) their encoder is pretty trick as far as lossy goes...supposed to be the latest and greatest.

I settled on Constrained Variable Bit Rate with the max bitrate "--cvbr 0". Seems to run ~330-355 kbps average and PCM 3.X doesn't have an issue with it. Works like a champ even though its on the high side of 320.

As with MP3's both 44.1 & 48 KHz work.

 

Worked perfectly for me using iTunes on a PC. Took an hour to copy the files from the USB in to the jukebox but all there and the album artwork. Many thanks.

I have transferred all my music to an SD Card which I have in my car working without a problem. The only thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to transfer my Playlists and that they work through the SD Card. Anybody knows how to do it ?
