Default Importing a U.S. car into Canada.

Does anyone here know who would provide me with a temporary license plate or in-transit permit to drive the car across the U.S. to the boarder crossing?
I know it could get it shipped, but I really enjoy driving and this would be the perfect way to get to really know my new Porsche.
Plus shipping would cost about $2,000 more, so save money and have a memorable trip....win, win.
Any info from those who have imported a Porsche into Canada from the States would be greatly appreciated.
Posted here and the Canadian forum.

cheers

Are you buying from a dealership or private party?

Here in Europe the dealer always provides an export plate (as in euro delivery option).
